Time for an #ICM image focussing on the variety of blue colours on a cloudy day on the Isle of #Harris, #OuterHebrides To my delight the image was one of the 12 finalists in the The Scots Magazine Photography competition a few years ago.

Very sad news, and condolences to you and your family on your loss. Kieran and his wonderful images will be sorely missed.

The rich colour pigments range from rusty orange, various browns, cream, with a Bideford Black seam running along the bottom. Bideford Black, a carbonaceous clay-like material, was mined for 200 years in the town of Bideford until the 1950's, and was used as a strong black pigment for paint, paper, rubber, ship building, and even mascara! Artists prize Bideford Black for it's deep, velvety black colour, and non-reflective properties.

Colourful geological deposits along the North Devon coast near Bideford. Carboniferous shales, slates, mudstones, and glacial deposits offer an amazing array of pigments such as the elusive Bideford Black.

It's #Stunday. Memories of late evening, unexpected pink clouds taken from #Huisinis looking south along the west side of the #OuterHebrides a few years ago. The benefits of a campervan!

A puffin perched on the edge of a grass cliff with beak open calling. Grey/blue sea as a background.
I occasionally take wildlife images if long lenses not needed. Who can resist a squawking puffin on the Treshnish Isles, off the coast of Mull.

Well done Sarah! Absolutely the best thing to do in the circumstances. Not surprised it's grumpy after it's ordeal.
