Would love to see how these numbers change after having to get a prior authorization or having to navigate the insurer maze to get an answer for something.

Screenshot from NPR article on hospitals requiring pre-payment before surgeries, even emergency ones.

After arriving by ambulance at the emergency department, Susan Bradshaw lay on a gurney in her hospital gown with a surgical bonnet on her head, waiting to be wheeled into surgery to remove her appendix at a hospital near her home in Maitland, Fla. A woman in street clothes approached her. Identifying herself as the surgeon's office manager, she demanded that Bradshaw make her $1,400 insurance payment before the surgery could proceed.

"I said, 'You have got to be kidding. I don't even have a comb,' " Bradshaw, a 68-year-old exhibit designer, told the woman on that night eight years ago. "I don't have a credit card on me."

The woman crossed her arms and Bradshaw remembers her saying, "You have to figure it out."

That reminds me of a medical story that's stuck with me for whatever reason. Not even close to the worst one, but it's stuck with me for one reason or another. Insurer wasn't mentioned, fwiw.

When it's my week to learn/care about juries, I'm going to be so pissed off about this.

Every now and again I'll remember Nick Clegg works there, mainly as a shield for whatever is being (rightly) thrown at FB/Meta.

This is the best overview of So. Korea/US nuclear situation I have saved. I didn't see anything regarding Biden making public statements about that, but may be a good reference nonetheless?

If you haven't always been aware of and/or mad at something, then you never can be. Thems the rules, apparently.

So, 1.14M views in all of December on 30 minute or longer videos (roughly 37k/day)? Seems not great for a "video first platform"? Also going to be fun for their CDN costs if they continue whatever this pivot is.
