The puberty blocker ban will be extended, likely before the end of the week and it won't be extended by months but by years. They've met with trans kids. They've met with parents. They've met with trans groups. They haven't listened. They don't care.

Clinicians have noted that the temporary ban makes sense in the context of the Cass-recommended trial of puberty blockers. Leaving aside the cruelty of a double-blind PB trial (you quickly realise if you're in the control group, with potentially devastating consequences) the trial wouldn't really work without such a ban, as there'd be no incentive to participate in it (why risk a 50% chance of not getting PBs when you could go through regular NHS routes and get them with more certainty?). This permanent ban much more transparently ideological.

🚨 Rivkah Brown of Novara reports that Wes Streeting likely to make the UK ban on puberty blockers permanent, imminently.

A permanent ban of this kind legally requires consultation. The consultation concluded in November, but it seems likely Streeting had already made his decision before then.
