I agree. and I think people can take a lesson, though I think other people won't agree on WHAT lesson, but I also am a bit worried (not enough to not support him) about what happens when he can't do things and the online firehose of shit gets turned his way.

I think part of it is what is pandering to the right, partially because the median, average, and honestly, non voter is ... an uneducated loser who thinks the weirdest most inane shit seen on facebook? (I'm exaggerating, but like ... non voters are ... weird)

I'm being real with you but that sounds both not good and not a job I would want to take.

so, my day job is in subsidized housing and I can already see an issue with some of Mamdani's promises not coming to pass because he doesn't control those parts of the legislation and I will say that I'm worried what's gonna happen when he can't deliver on some items.

I will give you that *most* of the times the Ds have lost it's not due to left wing voters sitting out. At least for me. With one exception. Which wasn't 2016 or 2024.

I think what people think is constructive criticism is gonna wildly vary in what is viewed as effective.

Also, have you ever taken hostile constructive criticism well from total strangers?

08.10.2025 02:01 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I personally, at the moment, don't see how Dems can do that when everyone online is wrong rocking them, the media is constantly doing The Day The President Became Presidential, and the Rs are saying that Ds are gonna give your health insurance to those Mexicans you hate.

08.10.2025 01:58 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

(I'd like to think I also understand your frustration, though, I will say that a lot of complaints I've seen across the board feel like the people who went into DOGE thinking there was all this excess and in reality it was functioning buearacracy [sp. I'm not lookiing that up.] YMMV though)

so, one of the things with that is there's a constant firehose of shit being aimed at almost every Dem politician from both the mainstream media and from people like you and me.

Personally, I try to not engage in that sort of name calling, but I also know people who are upset about it +

08.10.2025 01:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

the poll that you showed shows that those same people are actually happy with THEIR health insurance, though.

08.10.2025 01:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

eh? He was still polling worse in 2020 than he was in 2016, so even if there was backroom dealings, I think one can come up with a reason that's "we did this crap four years ago and his ego didn't let him get mathmatically eliminated." I'm not saying that's what happened but I'm also tired of 2016.

I haven't gotten to Silksong, though I'm personally finding Hollow Knight frustrating enough, even if I'm enjoying it enough to keep going (I'm always late to most games. Elden Ring's DLC was one of the first times I got to be there on release day)

08.10.2025 01:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Everything I've seen shows that when you ask about "m4a" everyone's for it but once you start asking questions about should fat people or smokers or immigrants have it that percentage starts to drop. That's what I'm saying about the poll.

08.10.2025 01:48 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I feel like being "wildly" popular among people who can't name their own senators and aren't living in Vermont isn't the plus you think it is. I mean, it sure as hell didn't translate into votes for him, even when he got the rules changed.

08.10.2025 01:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

When did Harris say that?

08.10.2025 01:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

look. I'm home and the booze is starting to wear off so if you're going to be a condesencing dick wad, I'm happy to mute this conversation and go play Hollow Knight instead.

You. Showed. One. Poll. That. Had. Conflicting. Information. And. Doesn't. Match. What. The. Current. Political. Climate. Is. Showing. About. The. Voter. Base.

Sanders is notoriously hard to work with. Barney Frank hated him. He also likes to do this thing where he runs as a Dem in the primary, rejects the nom, and then runs as an Independent, so voting for any Dem nominee if they can get one would split the vote.

08.10.2025 01:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

alright I'll give you that.

What policies did Harris cede in order to do those campaign events with Cheney? you implied Harris ran on Cheney's policies up thread.

08.10.2025 01:40 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

you really think the American population could be brought around on messaging on Medicare for All in the same way that Republicans have managed to message on immigration?

There's a lot of wishes and ifs in that that when I say it's not feasible that's what I'm talking about.

08.10.2025 01:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Because I live here and not just here but in AOC's district and have for a long time and everyone talking about this race outside of the city have had some big ideas when what I've seen is Mamdani smiles, is nice in interviews, and says nice things about the party he's running under.

08.10.2025 01:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

... how does that make one a war criminal? Don't you have to actively do things and not just theoretically endorse them? I mean, in that case that makes everyone with a Luigi Mangione avatar a war criminal.

08.10.2025 01:35 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Do you live in NYC?

Just so we're on the same page, you're seeming to use M4A and universal healthcare interchangeably. Is that the case?

08.10.2025 01:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Is Liz a war criminal? What policies were ceeded for the events to happen?

08.10.2025 01:19 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I found it. I'd be curious to know how it was worded because a few pages later it shows that most people are happy/view favorably their own health insurance but view the whole system unfavorably. Polling is weird. I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm not saying it's as easy as that.

That's 69 pages long and I'm drunk and on the train. Can you share the exact part you're referring? Stastitcs and polls are complex things that say and don't say a lot
