Luckily, here in NYC we have a bunch of theaters to do this or enough screens in the megaplexes that Fathom can do this with one or two. It's like how everyone says you hate Shakespeare because it's a play and you're meant to see it live. (this is before we talk about the audience and the costs...)

A few years ago, some friends and I went to see White Christmas on the big screen. I've seen this movie a ton of times. I can't tell you how much of a different experience that was. Same thing a while back with one of the anniversaries of The Wizard of Oz.+

Honestly? I spend all day every day rethinking decisions I've made my entire life and how that one thing I did when I was 8 is the reason why I'm miserable and depressed now, so I find it really confusing that the rest of you apparently do that, but for other people you don't even know ...

Maybe some sewing stuff/intro things to teach the basics to learn how to make your own doll clothes, plus some fabric samples to work with, too?

I'm kinda fascinated by the various doll redo videos I see online so maybe some doll fixing/creating stuff? (this website was the first hit so ... that's not a personal rec, just me looking it up) and not only do they have various colors and styles, but you can buy the rooter tool+glue as a bundle.

I'm also using quality here. I think HP is compelling enough that adults (I was one of them) got invested. That doesn't mean it was well crafted but that Rowling found a writing formula for HP that drew people in (in a way she hasn't been able to recreate).

I think you'd still get away with brand new ASOIAF being non YA in 2025, you'd just have to age some of the characters up. I think Ellie's point of epic fantasy (like, Mercedes Lackey wasn't writing for TEENS but did have a lot of teen protagonists and readers) being heavily read by teens is closer.

What's funny about this is how many discussions about HP I've seen bring up stuff that's fan fixes or head canons and it's still attributed to Rowling

I also feel one difference between HP and GOT is the HP books were ... designed? to be started young and grown with you, and GoT is just a full on adult series and that affected their pre visual media popularity.

Oh that makes sense. I didn't get to Twitter until late/later (but before the character limit increase) and avoided it for so long because it was just people yelling at each other which seems the norm reaction now.

I also feel like they're bad books is ... missing something. They were (and to some folks still are) engaging enough to get a whole industry pop up in a way that I haven't seen with other franchises. And when they do, it's more like LOTR or Wicked where most people online bitch about the books.
