I think part of the prblm is the lack of planning time before starting in the classroom w/ the kids...it takes time to plan the unit and if you're not given enough time you do what you can to survive, like planning day by day. So few ppl understand how much time it takes to plan before teaching

So exciting! I'm jealous. Our school offers it but we don't get enough kids to sign up to run a section, too many competing electives here.

Last year we had an interesting discussion in APUSH after looking at pictures of the KKK march in DC and a map of where Klan members were elected (openly) to office. Lots of kids made good connections to Reconstruction and Civil Rights Mvt (good CCOT). Found the images on Google
