The water company you refer to is a Government entity. It has paid $100s of millions to the State Treasury in dividends over the years. So Govt is just underwriting itself. Its problems emanate from an incompetent for-profit IT services provider (which should be sued) and inadequate risk management.

When everyone behaves like a politician it's no surprise there are these constant schisms in Tasmania.

Like poor Americans believe they are temporarily embarrassed millionaires, many Tasmanians behave like they are temporarily embarrassed politicians. And fair enough given 12 senators, 5 federal reps, 35 MLAs, 15 MLCs and 263 local councillors for just double the population of Wyndham council area.

Or Football Park vs Adelaide Oval.

Attendances at VFL Park and Marvel Stadium is probably historically similar. Except only one of these two add to the economy of every business and the cultural capital of the city around it.

So let's ignore the $40M/year guaranteed #AFL payment to the Devils (men). There is also #AFLW. Big Bash M & W. International cricket. State cricket. Local finals. Music and other events. And leaves the waterfront available for housing and hotels. Govt makes money back from every wage, room & beer.

It's becoming difficult to detect satire. Destroy the historic city? Bankrupt the state? Yes $500M cost to the state. Bringing in approx $50M/year to the state economy. With economic being the least of the benefits. Get on with it.

1. Collingwood need to be given a massive kick in the arse. Have never embraced the W program.
2. #AFL should build broad support by focusing on its TV product. For a start, get the camera angles right and if necessary push the entire crowd to the opposite side to the cameras to create vibe.
