That's why the anticipated Medicaid cuts stemming from the budget bill along with newly added Medicaid eligibility requirements are a huge threat to health centers, particularly those which already may be struggling--often due to serving communities with the highest needs. 2/2

This article is a great intro to the important work of community health centers. One comment I'd make is that it could be read as implying that the majority of FQHC funding comes as federal grants, but the average health center's 330 grant covers only 18% of revenue (KFF 2019). 1/2

I was asked last night to provide my opinion on the adequacy of our candy supply (we have a very busy Halloween street). Needless to say, even if we did not originally, we now need to buy more candy.

In related yet less surprising news, the CDC Environmental Justice website is gone.

Updating teaching materials on nutrition today and realized that the myplate.gov website has (in addition to the blatant Hatch Act violation) apparently removed all the Spanish language content/handouts. Figured nutrition is a way of making America healthy. Not if you don't speak English, I guess.
