Is it normal, in a Canadian city, for the police to beat and tear gas hundreds of people for more than an hour, injuring six, to protect a company providing guards to concentration camps, and for it not to be in any major local or national news media the next day? Asking for a friend.

You do not need to be in Minneapolis, or LA, etc., to help in this fight. You don't even need to confront ICE/CBP themselves. The arms of this machine are everywhere.

They're going to try to put this woman in federal prison for 50 years, and she probably knew that going in.

But jury nullification is still a thing.

The SPVM's violence confirms that the struggle against ICE and GardaWorld is also a struggle against the police, here and everywhere.

Courageous protesters also threw back tear gas capsules towards the police and aimed laser pointers at them, while others made calls to stay together and treated those affected by chemical weapons.

There was unfortunately at least one arrest and one person injured who had to take an ambulance. But the crowd was determined, responding to the riot cops with rocks and chunks of ice, as a constant stream of snowballs distracted and confused them.

Shooting dozens of rounds of tear gas and using pepper spray and their batons, the SPVM violently pushed back more than a thousand people who showed up this afternoon to send a message to GardaWorld over their contracts with ICE at their offices and training center in Ville Saint-Laurent. (thread)

In this way, while meeting people's needs and showing that there is nothing sacred in private property, they expand the terrain of liberatory struggle however slightly while shrinking that of those wagering on terror and domination.

Robins des ruelles are not alone in taking up the proposal, but the highly visible and evocative lootings have been the most successful. They call attention to a daily exploiter, a social enemy much more real and present in our lives than the scapegoats that politicians try to sell us.

They're easily the most popular political actions of the past 10 years here. Radicals elsewhere should take note. Anarchists argued for expropriative means in place of campaigns that have been unable to resonate in which activists hid their true beliefs behind social-democratic goals and methods.

We've heard variations on the thesis that the best counter-recruitment moves against the far right are concrete responses to capitalist dispossession—actions that resonate with people's anger at elites. Two MTL grocery store robberies since December with redistribution of the loot fit the bill.

Radicals who refuse to speak to corporate media, recognizing them to be structurally embedded in the dominant order, are not wrong.

1. Mass media outlet interviews Robins des ruelles.
2. Robins refuse to frame their actions as charity or 'speaking truth to power', instead choosing radical critique of capitalism and proposal for direct action.
3. Media refuse to publish interview.

The world is a dark place but comrades in my city are frequently looting yuppy grocery stores and redistributing the food, so there's hope to be found.
