Is it normal, in a Canadian city, for the police to beat and tear gas hundreds of people for more than an hour, injuring six, to protect a company providing guards to concentration camps, and for it not to be in any major local or national news media the next day? Asking for a friend.

In Los Angeles, California, tensions escalated as law enforcement officers drew their weapons on students participating in an anti-ICE march.

They're going to try to put this woman in federal prison for 50 years, and she probably knew that going in.

But jury nullification is still a thing.

The SPVM's violence confirms that the struggle against ICE and GardaWorld is also a struggle against the police, here and everywhere.

Courageous protesters also threw back tear gas capsules towards the police and aimed laser pointers at them, while others made calls to stay together and treated those affected by chemical weapons.

There was unfortunately at least one arrest and one person injured who had to take an ambulance. But the crowd was determined, responding to the riot cops with rocks and chunks of ice, as a constant stream of snowballs distracted and confused them.

We've heard variations on the thesis that the best counter-recruitment moves against the far right are concrete responses to capitalist dispossession—actions that resonate with people's anger at elites. Two MTL grocery store robberies since December with redistribution of the loot fit the bill.

Radicals who refuse to speak to corporate media, recognizing them to be structurally embedded in the dominant order, are not wrong.

Nous ne sommes pas que des consommateurs, mais aussi des personnes capables de révolte, et avons le pouvoir de changer ce système abusif. Contrairement à ce que l'on veut nous faire croire, notre appauvrissement ne repose pas sur d'abstraites variations des marchés mondiaux : il est structurellement maintenu par les pouvoirs politiques et économiques. Nous refusons leur fiction de « l'ordre des choses », nous voulons faire mouvement pour le renverser.

Il ne tient qu'à nous de démarchandiser notre vie. Tout est déjà là et il y en a assez pour tout le monde. Le jour où nous refusons de collaborer avec ce système brisé, où nous cessons de payer, tout devient possible.
