F.B.I. Agent Who Tried to Investigate ICE Officer in Shooting Resigns

The FBI agent who sought to investigate the federal immigration officer who fatally shot Renee Good has resigned from the bureau, according to two people familiar with the matter, after leadership pressured her to discontinue a civil rights inquiry into the officer.

Gov. Walz’s office tells @zeteo.com: “The Governor has activated the State Emergency Operations Center. He is meeting with public safety officials now and will hold a press conference at 1:30 CT to address the shooting in Minneapolis.”

This is correct. MN officials are the ones appealing for calm. The White House is demanding obedience.

Nicollet Ave in South Mpls now resembles a warzone after federal agents killed a man there this morning. Trump is trying his damndest to make this community unlivable.

Stella Carlson said that before the shooting, the man was helping vehicle traffic get around the area where ICE agents and observers had started to gather. "The gentleman I was standing next to was focused on helping people who were coming into Nicollet Avenue understand that they needed to take it slow and helping them get through. The ICE agents approached us, told us to back up, back up. I'm not even sure why we were helping them, if anything. And I got on the snow bank, and next thing I knew, they shot him," Carlson said.

Everyone in Chicago saw how close this violence was if you interacted with these federal agents. There’s several photos of them directly pointing their weapons at members of the press. They will not stop their violence because that is their actual purpose. They exist to terrorize us into submission.

The fact they’re arresting people who are assembling peacefully instead of the federal agent who just executed one of their residents is pathetic. Up to this point I have been pretty careful not to get to this point rhetorically but we’re over the edge, there’s a burden of responsibility.

Republicans could end this it any time and I think every single Republican member of Congress should be asked daily why they continue to allow this. They are cowards who want to destroy our country and should have to carry that shame.

I told the White House the state must lead the investigation.

Let state investigators secure justice. As we process the scene, stay peaceful and give them space.

The State has the personnel to keep people safe – federal agents must not obstruct our ability to do so.

DHS (once again) announces conclusion (within 3 hours) without any investigation.

There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.

If the government executing us in the streets isn’t your red line, then you’ve already decided to endorse it.

CNN put together a clip of JD Vance claiming ICE agents have "absolute immunity" followed by him two weeks later claiming "I didn't say that officers who engage in wrongdoing would enjoy immunity"

Our government is murdering the citizens of this country. They are doing it without any checks on their violence

And what are they learning? Experts on the formation of internal security services in authoritarian regimes point to a sense of impunity as a warning sign. Regime officials abuse their power when they know they will be protected, and even praised, for doing so. Over the course of weeks and months, we have seen images of DHS officials abusing American citizens and immigrants alike, including killing them. What we do not hear is regime officials calling for credible investigations into such abuses, or even expressing any concerns. Renee Good’s killer was announced innocent, and both Good and her wife was instead the subject of an investigation, a perversion of justice so obvious that an FBI agent and half-dozen career Department of Justice prosecutors assigned to Minnesota resigned.

On the execution in Minnesota: Obviously, the individuals involved should be held accountable. But responsibility goes to the top of ICE and CBP, and DHS. Their appropriations come up next week in the senate. Not a cent for DHS without pulling ICE and CBP off the streets, in MN and everywhere else.

I am trying not to post on these events in this state of mind but: I hope people understand what the observers are doing is brave and dangerous.
