A nice, cool evening for a Run in SW London, passing through the fully-open Fulham Pier too which looks great. Worst thing about running along the River though is the amount of Pubs, very hard to not be tempted to stop in for a pit-stop beer... ๐Ÿƒ #UKRunChat #RunChat

I don't post much about Food, but went to Koya in Soho for lunch and had this absolutely banging Donburi (Rice bowl with vegetables, chicken, eggs and spices) with some Miso soup - tastes as good as it looks! ๐Ÿ˜‹ #Foodsky

Reform Dog Bites Media Man The British press is failing in its duty to ask the right questions of Nigel Farage

How we will look back at the British media's current constant indulgence of Nigel Farage and his brand of anti-migrant politics as the biggest collective failure of our times

It turns out that the craziest thing about the Simpsons is they're two late millennials on one blue collar salary in suburbia who own their house and have three kids and *aren't in poverty*.

The Simpsons are aspirational now.

Bluesky Reaches 38M Users, Though Post Volume Is Declining Blueskyโ€™s growth momentum has slowed, but it is still growing.

I really want Bluesky to succeed, while it's not as popular as 'old Twitter' was, it's great having a non-algorithm'd feed (even if users are becoming dormant) I'd support Ads here too as long as they're not like on 'X', but do need more features #TeamBluesky

I don't follow Football/the Premier League that closely (although I would watch it when it's on in the Pub) but can't help but feel the stranglehold Sky has over it now, that and other broadcasters (TNT) making it harder & expensive to watch sports

I use @inoreader.com and Evernote quite a lot for page/site bookmarking (I previously used Pocket for a while before it was shut down) Inoreader specifically is an RSS feed reader, but has the option to add an Bookmark option to your Bookmarks toolbar and collates them really easily

โ€˜Worryingโ€™ levels of screen time means young people losing confidence to socialise in person, minister warns โ€“ UK politics live Culture secretary Lisa Nandy says โ€˜majority of young people spend all, or almost all, of their free time alone in their bedrooms, onlineโ€™

This is not caused primarily by "screen time".

It's been caused by the mass eradication of third places for young people in basically every city over the past three decades - and a society that's hostile to the concept of teens socialising in public spaces.

New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation

I cannot see how public bodies and government departments can justify still posting on Twitter/X.

If posts get any attention at all, it's only for the wrong reasons from the worst people.

The argument that they need to be where the audience is no longer stands. Time to quietly stop posting.

Definitely 7 and 8 - The subscription-based model for good tools/services is well on the way to becoming a thing now - As well, Print, while wouldn't say it's a big comeback, is getting a resurgence purely as it's not 'Digital slop' given quality remains high while elsewhere is much lower

Lots of Ads running for Coinbase, now that they're authorised to run in the UK, at different Tube stations, playing into the whole cost-of-living situation (whereas one big Ad I saw at Waterloo just had their Logo on repeat) No Disclaimers on the Ads though, which is odd given how volatile Crypto is

These are the top replies, being financially rewarded for posting this stuff, and the explanation offered by the siteโ€™s own AI for why itโ€™s like that.

Anyway just flicking through the Sunday newspapers reading about some minor content infractions that Ofcom might look into at the BBC/Channel 4.

Trump Unleashes New Tariff Regime in Challenge to Global Growth Get caught up.

Tariff day has arrived. At an average of 15%, the world is facing some of the steepest US tariffs since the 1930s, roughly six times higher than they were a year ago, in what threatens to deliver a delayed shock to the global economy. Here is your Evening Briefing.

Meta Crushed Q2 Ad Revenue (Oh, And Itโ€™s Investing In AI Thatโ€™s Way Smarter Than You) | AdExchanger "We have a conviction that superintelligence is going to improve every aspect of what we do,โ€ Mark Zuckerberg told investors on Wednesday.

Meta's Ad Revenues up 21% YoY - Remember back in January there was talk of a boycott due to their new stance on loosening content restrictions, cutting trust/safety teams, etc?No impact at all. Their AI tools make it so easy for clients to set up/run Ads, too.

YouTube is changing the way that weโ€™re watching television, and traditional broadcasters need to evolve or die.

CEOs Are Shrinking Their Workforcesโ€”and They Couldnโ€™t Be Prouder Bosses arenโ€™t just unapologetic about staff cuts. Many are touting shrinking head counts as accomplishments in the AI era.

The @wsj.com has a new article pointing out how CEOs of big companies now take pride in doing regular layoffs. Weโ€™ve gone from CEOs bragging about how much theyโ€™re hiring to instead pointing out how much theyโ€™re cutting and replacing with AI, or so they claim.

A huge shift in how CEOs view success
