Guessing they were doing it for economy, at first; there were still weird left-field choices then that no one ever explained. Like this one, from Billy Thorpe; 'NCX played it almost daily for years. It was never a hit in America; + certainly not in Cleveland.

We have rich people in Cleveland. Always have, from the Hannas + Rockefellers on up. And there's by far the best high-culture offerings here, more than anywhere else between NYC and Chicago.

A man who is 0-4, facing a long 11 days getting out of the hole is perfectly entitled to henka an opponent who's known to charge with his head/eyes down. If his opponent doesn't take that into account; that's on him.
