1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧡

Mass deportations don’t protect working peopleβ€”they weaken labor standards, silence organizing and empower bad employers.

An attack on immigrant workers is an attack on ALL workers. @jimmy-iupat.bsky.social

Rep. Julie Johnson to Noem: "Are you aware that ICE agent jackets are available on Etsy for $20? Anybody can throw a mask on and run around and terrorize people of color without any regard for the law because your agency does not have proper protocols to make sure your agents are clearly identified"

THE PENTAGON BUDGET JUST HIT A TRILLION DOLLARS.

Not a single pundit from either political party said β€œhow are we going to pay for it?!”

Don’t dare tell us we cannot ALL have healthcare, housing, and education.

18 states and DC now have shield laws protecting people who care for traveling patients. @dsc250.bsky.social says 8 of these states have gone even further by explicitly protecting providers who, via telemedicine, care for patients across state lines. #ReproHealth

Sex Redefined: The Idea of 2 Sexes Is Overly Simplistic Biologists now think there is a larger spectrum than just binary female and male

My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...

IT’S TOO COMPLICATED, THEY SAY | Public Anthropologist A Reckoning in Seven Movements I. To Begin With Fire There are nights I wake with my hands curled into fists, nights when I cannot unclench…

Let’s talk about the way a name

the way a crime
becomes an argument,
the way an argument
becomes a theory,
the way a theory
sits safely
in a syllabus
far from the fire.

People are exhausted, in an ongoing trauma response, increasingly sick and disabled, and don’t know what to do. Most are barely getting by and don’t have the time or energy to add a new, difficult thing. If they try something ineffective, motivation tanks. These conditions are policy choices.

Imagine this: On the evening of March 8, you and your spouse unlock the door to your apartment building. As you step inside, two menβ€”not in uniformβ€”push their way in behind you. They tell you your visa has been revoked and that they are there to deport you.

This is how authoritarian regimes test the waters. The first disappearance is a warning. If no one fights back, the next one comes easier. And the one after that. Until fear replaces resistance.

Now, imagine this happening to you. Would anyone fight for you?

Michael Moorcock: What do you think about the current shift to the right in US politics?

Andrea Dworkin: Here, in blaming and shaming the oppressed, the powerless, the left colludes with the right. There's no reason to look to the left for justice, so people look to the right for order. It's pretty simple. The victory of the right also expresses the rage of white men against women and people of colour who are seen to be eroding the white man's authority. The pain of destroying male rule won't be worse than the pain of living with it.

β€œNo Place for Self-Pity, No Room for Fear: In times of dread, artists must never choose to remain silent.” by Toni Morrison; excerpt reads:

β€œDictators and tyrants routinely begin their reigns and sustain their power with the deliberate and calculated destruction of art: the censorship and book-burning of unpoliced prose, the harassment and detention of painters, journalists, poets, playwrights, novelists, essayists. This is the first step of a despot whose instinctive acts of malevolence are not simply mindless or evil; they are also perceptive. Such despots know very well that their strategy of repression will allow the real tools of oppressive power to flourish. Their plan is simple:

1. Select a useful enemyβ€”an β€œOther”—to convert rage into conflict, even war.

2. Limit or erase the imagination that art provides, as well as the critical thinking of scholars and journalists.

3. Distract with toys, dreams of loot, and themes of superior religion or defiant national pride that enshrine past hurts and humiliations.”
