We don’t go out much, and while I’m not as consistent as I could be about masking in public, I do still mask when I go to the grocery store, which is infrequent. Trying to prioritize sleeping more, which is probably the number one thing I can do to improve my health (at least without spending $).

My kid and I have, fortunately, managed not to get COVID for a third time since she started preschool, but during the cold months we get sick twice a month on average. Last year I lost count of the respiratory infections, and we also had norovirus.

Since my kid started preschool I’ve been sick more frequently than any other period in my life. I also seem to have become particularly susceptible to sinus infections and losing my sense of smell, which I suspect is due to long COVID.

Thought 2026 was off to a good start when I won at Scrabble about a half hour in, but the next morning I woke up with swollen lymph nodes and have spent the last four days miserable and barely getting out of bed. I’ve tested negative for Covid, flu A&B, and RSV. Whatever it is, I hate it.

All I want for Xmas is for my ongoing phone storage crisis to be resolved once and for all.

Kiddo has been moody lately and has been testing boundaries trying to hurt my feelings when she’s grumpy, but after she eats, naps or otherwise finds a path to a better mood, she comes to me saying “I’m so sorry I was mean!” I’ve never heard such sincerity from an adult. I hope she stays like this🤞
