I feel this way about pretty much all vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. You shouldn't be allowed to dump cyanide into municipal drinking water and you shouldn't be allowed to recreationally spread viruses around shared public spaces.

In addition to their concerns about the conditions in which ICE detainees would be held, local leaders warned that an ICE warehouse in their town of about 30,000 residents could place a heavy burden on emergency services and tarnish the community’s public image while reducing property tax revenues.

for better or worse, this will probably be the most successful and compelling argument by communities against ICE concentration camps being built:

Oz's CMS is handing Medicaid data to the regime's child abducting, nurse murdering gestapo. In 28 states, ICE can see your diagnoses, your prescriptions, and where you receive care. No court restrictions at all. I wrote about how this works and what it means.

Literal atrocities being carried out in our names every single day

Abolish DHS, raze it from top to bottom, blacklist its architects and leaders, embrace the broadest reparative vision possible

Meta Plans to Add Facial Recognition Technology to Its Smart Glasses

Meta internal memo says they plan to launch facial recognition for their Ray Ban snoop glasses and it should be fine because groups like the ACLU are busy fighting fascism so won't have time to fight back. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/13/t...

Not joking or exaggerating at all. A couple things about this: First, Meta is a trash company led by bad people. Second, when fascists run the government, literally everything becomes shittier. Case in point.

EPA reverses long-standing climate change finding, stripping its own ability to regulate emissions The agency announced it is repealing its 2009 conclusion that greenhouse gases warm the Earth and endanger human health and well-being.

There are so many fucked up things with the current administration that it's hard to focus on one but this recent move is basically a death sentence for the planet. I've been involved with more boots on the ground actions over the years than I can count and this really bums me out.

The same day DHS announced the surge would end in Minnesota, ICE activity increased in small towns The less densely populated areas outside the Twin Cities make it harder for protesters and observers to organize.

border czar tom homan said DHS is ending its surge in minnesota. but minnesotans i spoke to (literally yesterday!) said ICE had ramped up its presence in st. cloud and surrounding small towns

A medieval illustration of a hedgehog with grapes skewered on its spines

It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

It would be embarrassing under any circumstances to spend a year on this reactionary horseshit, but to have spent the year in which graduate students were sent to concentration camps for op-eds and the federal govt launched a no hold barred attack on academic freedom is just beyond

7-Year-Old Migrant Girl Dies Of Dehydration And Shock In U.S. Border Patrol Custody The girl's death underscores the crisis precipitated by large groups of families seeking asylum where there are inadequate facilities to detain them.

CBP didn’t give her or anyone any water; she asked 3 times accg to other reports. CBP killed a 7yr old.

β€œ8 hours after the girl & her father were taken into custody, she began having seizures & her body temperature was measured at 105.7 degrees by emergency medical technicians. shorturl.at/d2OTJ

What we know now is a fraction of all human knowledge ever.

What is known to literate societies is a fraction of what we know now.

What is written is a fraction of what literate societies know.

What is digitized is a fraction of what is written.

What is online is a fraction of what is digitized.

I was legit just sitting down to do the proportionate math

Like if donald trump has killed 14 million+ people (some who don’t know it yet), based on the population of the earth, is he at Hitler or Stalin

I stopped doing the math but it’s a real question. And 14 is pretty lowball

Rejecting Reality in the Age of AI The Internet and AI are encouraging more and more people to deny reality itself. Here's why that's bad.

the problem with AI β€œjournalism” is that, as I discussed in this piece, LLMs eventually come up against the constraint that they know only what is legible to the digital. vast swaths of global happenings aren’t digitally legible and will remain so. only human reporters can describe those events.

11.02.2026 20:21 β€” πŸ‘ 327    πŸ” 73    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 4

it's literally impossible for an LLM to do a historian's job

it's not even LLMs sucking it's that they need data input to do anything and where's that data supposed to be coming from without historians

never met a computer that can dig through a thousand year old book in a library

11.02.2026 20:35 β€” πŸ‘ 518    πŸ” 73    πŸ’¬ 9    πŸ“Œ 13

all the years of "the internet is the repository of all human knowledge" takes have given people a vastly inflated idea of how much human knowledge is actually on the internet
