Well, even though you unchecked that box during check out, you’ll have to also unsubscribe today — and also at some undetermined future date when the corporation suddenly decides to re-spam everyone who ever gave them their email addresses.

Counterpoint: How about receiving 10 emails per day about buying more underwear at a (relative) discount during the corporation’s Black Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and most of the month of December sales event(s)?

A hardback copy of “Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil” by Oliver Darkshire. The cover illustration is in the style of an illustrated manuscript, with a vine and red fruit climbing up a golden vertical post along the edge by the spine. There is a horizontal sword along the top, and a creature crouches on top of the sword. Along the bottom, there is an elf or gnome, a blue equid, a woman in a red dress reading a book, a red pot with a green plant (presumably the pot of basil), and a cat.

Only took 3 shops and braving an amazing horde of people on the streets, but I got my book. It was the last one … and see - there IS a cat on the cover!

We walked into a Waterstones booksellers, where I wanted to pop in to look for a book.

The young man asked for the name, the title, or any other information that might help identify the book.

All I could offer was that I thought there was a cat on the UK cover. Which - wasn’t super helpful.

The upside to chores is that the Offspring are pretty reliable about feeding The Lab.

The downside is that neither parent noticed (or was informed) about the total lack of dog food in the bin, and no one checked as part of the pre-trip checks until… just now.

Gone for the week, home for a weekend of teaching and encouraging the Young Ones in archery. It’s a fun course of instruction. You explain, demonstrate, and guide, but you can’t shoot for them. That’s when the encouragement and enabling must be done.

Now outbound after its perihelion or closest approach to the Sun on October 29, Comet 3I/ATLAS is only the third known interstellar object to pass through our fair Solar System. Its greenish coma and faint tails are seen against a background of stars in the constellation Virgo in this view from planet Earth, recorded with a small telescope on November 14. But this interstellar interloper is the subject of an on-going, unprecedented Solar System-wide observing campaign involving spacecraft and space telescopes from Earth orbit to the surface of Mars and beyond. And while the comet from another star-system has recently grown brighter, you'll still need a telescope if you want to see 3I/ATLAS from planet Earth. It's now above the horizon in November morning skies and will make its closest approach to Earth, a comfortable 270 million kilometers distant, around December 19.

So, I think tonight’s the night to really dig in to this book.

(Especially as it is two weeks overdue to my exceptionally indulgent public library).

Horses are a distinct class of large animal medicine, and that distinction probably started- oh, about the time more women owned and rode horses than men.

That plus now that there are more women in veterinary medicine, we get choose where we want to work and old clinics can take us or go without.

Not so sure I recall talking about p-values but discussions about the farmers market on the square or going to the dairy bar was certainly possible.

The Youngest announced he was Going To His Bedroom. A parental check occurred and he was discovered to be Reading A Book for Bedtime.

The book in question - P.W. Singer’s “Wired for War” - and honestly, good for him. I haven’t even started it yet.

I’m more jealous of this post than all of the cocktail posts.

Then they sat in the shade of a large tree and ate their chocolate ice cream cones together.

I’m so glad you got to see them. I hope it was a good visit.
