I may have stocked up on my favorite. A bunch of cremant chocolate bars stashed in the butter tray space of a refrigerator.

I may have stockpiled some of my favorites.

Did you go get seen? Just because the paramedics thought you were okay at the scene- don’t hesitate to have yourself taken care of.

Rabies is fatal once symptoms start but preventable with vaccination. The post exposure vaccine series is three (3) shots, in the muscle (not in the abdomen), over the course of about a month.
Many people who were exposed through bats do not know they were bitten, or otherwise at risk.

A black timex watch in hand. The watch was unearthed in a kids bedroom, sometime in the wee hours of the morning by a parent who had fallen asleep during the bedtime routine. The screen shows an alarm that is set to go off daily, at 2:23am. I have disabled the alarm.

The Youngest has been waking up in the middle of the night all summer- getting out of bed, and playing video games or watching tv. We’d find him up at 4am, 5am, 6… He couldn’t explain why and we were starting to worry. After falling asleep in his room last night, we found an answer..

Anyways, its been a day.
A week.
Half of a month.

I am ✨tired✨.

No complaints here. Except I mean for how ✨deeply✨I felt those books. And stayed up until 3am one night finishing BUTCHER…

(As I stay up reading another book)

A medical doctor asked me- a public health veterinarian- today why I wouldn’t consider drinking raw milk. And then seemed surprised when I promptly listed off a number of infectious diseases which can be spread to humans by consuming unpasteurized milk.

I’m just seeing this, and wish there had been anything I could have done. Freya had such personality and I felt privileged to come along on your walks with her (vicariously over the inter-web).

A table holds a book, a bottle of German beer and various empty plant pots. A Chocolate Labrador retriever sits pretty at the other side, looking noble and Very Good and definitely Not Begging for the Pizza which is off camera.

Everything just got better.

The Lab wishes I would share the pizza bones with him, and then let him crawl into my lap. Then everything would be Best.

I don’t mind filling in for people at work. I just prefer not to fill in for everyone all at once.

Is this the part where people who have worn tactical gear have to explain that a panel like that isn’t going to be stopping the 5.56 rounds used in the high-velocity rifles?

I got up early to go swimming, but the weather is just too beautiful not to spend a little extra time on the balcony with The Lab and this breeze that hints of future cool weather.

How many deaths occur around childbirth and infancy. How many from lack of public sanitation, from infectious diseases, from secondary infection…

So many. So many preventable deaths. Such are the wonders of science, expertise, research.

Will we throw it all away? And for what?

I however, might have a stroke. I’ve apparently been failing my kid on how to survive in this digital environment.

Doing life lessons with the teen. Tonight’s lesson include:
1) not losing your email account password
ANd
2) signing up for an account on a website
AND…
3) Two Factor Authentication
AND
4) why don’t you know your mom’s phone number?!

All without hyperventilating. (Them, not me)

Everyone benefits from a good editor.

A phone in the locked boxes is playing music this morning. It cycled through the Beatles and has moved on to an R&B music stream. It’s kinda upbeat, and also sad because we all know whoever they are, they’re going to have the deadest phone battery at the end of the day.

With Tom Lehrer's passing, I suppose this is a moment to share the story of the prank he played on the National Security Agency, and how it went undiscovered for nearly 60 years.
