So, no, it's not people's fault for believing propaganda, tech hype, etc: it's my fault, and of all those in at least 1 of the categories above.
Thank goodness for people like
@exceedhergrasp1.bsky.social with a big platform for relentlessly speaking the truth in a way that everyone can understand.

Pretty much the opposite to what has been happening for at least two decades with vaccines, the opposite to what's happening today with AI, the opposite to what's about to happen with gene editing.

nope, average people should not be required to read molecular neuro journals to make health decisions. Physicians should. FDA should. Teachers at college+ level should. Then these folks (one category includes myself, so I know what I'm talking about), should disseminate the correct info.

cool! Do you still use DSLR or have you switched to digital? I have, a long time ago already, but I do miss the "magic" of DSLR

Finally getting some theological clarity on the ethics of reclining in one’s plane seat

Did I really believe I could put up a Christmas tree with two kittens in the house?

that's nice to hear! I pictured this poor 20 years something asking themselves whether they can handle a Kafkaesque trial all by themselves, but good to know there is a structure in place that, at least in theory, would support them.

yeah, I figured that much. So this ad feels a little bit disingenuous coming from former military personnel and civil servants, who indeed know better. Had they gone beyond talk and, say, offered legal counseling to those who refuse orders, then it might have sounded more "I really mean it" to me.

what's JAG?

just to understand, because I am not familiar with the law. If a military refuses to carry out an order because they deem it unconstitutional or just against the law (any law), they are not just gonna get away with it. I suppose they will have to proove it in court, martial court, right?

Yeah, then I read the actual FDA announcement and figured that out. My initial reaction was because i had misread your caption (and somehow I thought the original indication was for ambulatory).
This whole FDA approval is murky anyway.

15.11.2025 18:24 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

wait, i think i misunderstood your caption: is now indicated or not for non-ambulatory patients? I am confused. I thought before was indicated only for ambulatory patients...

15.11.2025 12:02 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

but non-ambulatory patients have so little muscle left, why exposing these patients to the high risks of a therapy that even in principle is not going to deliver much benefit (TBH, the benefit is low even in younger patients with a bit more muscle).

I'm also an old fart with some experience in activism. And some ideas of my own.

So, apologies to all who felt hurt by my sarcasm. Next time I'll avoid satire.

(Though I really love the Quack satire of Stand Up For Science, hard to believe other SUFS fans don't get satire too!)

Peace y'all!

Wow, I have zero platform here, except when I criticize a "comrade"

And here I thought that on this side of the divide we were still allowed to criticize so we can learn and grow better.

Full disclosure: I have huge admiration and respect for @cdelawalla.bsky.social and the org she's created

Thanks for the clarification.

And I understand the need to set a term to donations, I get it. But how are you planning to continue the fight without financial resources? Happy to chat offline.

This is the most naive thing I've read in a long time.

Research Into ME/CFS Pathology Points to Possible Treatments With greater understanding of the complex pathomechanisms of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, researchers aim to target treatments.

Miriam Tucker reports from the IACFS/ME 2025 conference where researchers spoke about the underlying pathomechanisms of ME/CFS & long COVID and the potential for treatment approaches specifically targeting those identified abnormalities. [Sign in free to read]

are super-wealthy while traditional the fascists of the 20th century emerged from the working class. These guys are really a hybrid between 20th century fascist and old-fashioned totalitarian monarchs.

I know, I am not against food stamps, tell me about it, I grew up in a European country where social welfare, back then at least, was great. I am just noting how this current fascist admin is not even good at being fascist! I wonder if the difference stems from the fact that modern day fascists

09.11.2025 17:06 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

this is actually weird. Things like food stamps have historically been a way for fascist governments to keep poor people bound to them and fully under their control (by literally controlling whether they'll be able to eat or not). So this is a new thing I can't quite wrap my head around.

This is why I said yesterday, and still say today: "good riddance!"

Honestly, the double helix would have been discovered anyway, sooner or later, with or without him.

The harm he did to people, would have not been done without him.

As simple as that.

Good riddance!

09.11.2025 00:00 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is one of those cases where I have no doubt it is "good riddance". The structure of DNA would have been discovered with or without him. So we didn't really need him for that. Nor did we need him for his absolutely, outrageously disgusting character. Hence, naturally, "good riddance".
