I will add that I did not expect such a lengthy subsection on what to do when law enforcement arrives (to make sure they don’t shoot you).

I imagine they tick some liability box that reduces costs somewhere in the system for both the university and law enforcement, so there’s that. But surely if it definitively saved lives or gouged deserving eyeballs, they’d say so?

Have completed my institution’s active shooter response training module (such helpful tips as how to gouge out an attacker’s eyes) and will now change my work email sign off from “taking care of what matters,” our branded school motto to “I deserve to live,” the tag line of this horrendous exercise.
