Speaking of Rockwall, the Half Price Books there had a beautiful leather-bound 2001: A Space Odyssey in their collectibles section. I wanted to buy it so badly. But the price was $100. I think I stared at it for about 10 minutes, trying to decide, before putting it back. 🙁😭

I happened to be in Rockwall, TX, a few hours ago, and drove by an El Chico. Does anybody remember that restaurant? I don't know if it's the same chain that disappeared 20-some odd years ago, but the logo looked the same. I really missed that place, specifically the one in Round Rock.

Saw an ad for an orchestra concert in Ft. Worth in March. I thought I wouldn't mind going to that. The cheapest tickets are ~$50 (before fees), but only for the highest balcony and middle seats. Aisle seats are nearly double. That's going to be a nope for me. Aisle seats or nothing.

Then realizing I left my credit card at a different place last night. Thankfully they still had it. Whew!

Sitting at a sports bar for lunch and watching UTSA, on the road, win their first AAC game.

Not quite sure what was going on with the couple sitting next to me at COLD STORAGE tonight. They got up and left together during the trailers, came back, then left in the first 15 minutes of the movie.

They missed a good time at the movies. Really dug the vibe of the movie!

Four game losing streak. This is so bad.

I had only seen that critics had seen just 6 episodes, but i guess you're saying that you (and they) have actually seen all of them? Just curious. I didn't see any one talk about episodes 7-10 yet, at least what to expect.

99.9% of cases like this, the writers asked all these questions and have the answer, but the story doesn't need to provide them. Just because you don't know it, doesn't mean it's a "mistake."

Long ass day. Started at the Texas A&M Analytics Day in Houston, and I'm now in Denton for the UNT MBB - Memphis game. Very tired, but good to be here in the DFW area through the holiday. I'll be back on campus tomorrow for the Syndicate Lunch Concert.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I mean most folks are lucky to get a 2-3% annual raise. Are there engineering undegrads making more than $75k outside of petroleum/chemical engineers right out of college?

Honest Q. I haven't hired new eng grads in 9 years. $62k was the start back then.

I'm due for my 2nd one later this year. I just scheduled an appointment with the Gastro to get everything set up for it. Thankfully, he's covered under my current (new) employer's insurance. He was not covered under the ACA plan I had last year.

Utter collapse by the Aggies with their 3rd loss in a row. That first half was great, but they went cold in the 2nd half and just couldn't get it done in the last few seconds. Now they head to Vanderbilt, which will not be easy.

I'll find out soon, though. I have a multi-day road trip, staying at three different Marriott brands.

That was fast, but this promotion is NOT the same as previous years. The way I read this, you can only get a "bonus night" by staying at least one night at each of the different Marriott brands. That's not cool. Titanium is going to be very tough this year.

I liked CRIME 101, but I felt it was too darn long. The director referenced HEAT and COLLATERAL as similar movies, and I can certainly see that, especially HEAT. But, yeah, too long.

Ended up with only 5 of us in this theater. I was the only one who stuck around for the entire livestream Q&A after.

And, yeah, I knew that more people would be buying tickets as they looked at the schedule. It was way too much to ask for to be the only one in the theater.

This week's road trip is a multi-leg one. Drive to College Station for TAMU-Mizzou MBB. Drive to Houston for Analytics Day sponsored by the TAMU MS Analytics and MBA programs. Then on to Denton for Memphis-UNT MBB, hang around there, then Frisco through the President's Day holiday.

Multiple chains are showing CRIME 101 with Livestream Q&A Monday night. The only Drafthouse showing it is in far North Austin. I had a ticket, but then I released it when I realized I could see it much closer to home. As of this post, I'm the only one in the nearest theater.

Going to be visiting the Marriott website a lot this week. They should be offering the "stay one night, get one additional night added to your total nights" promotion this week. I say this every year (and yet still manage to hit the different tiers), but I REALLY need it this year to stay Titanium.

So Seattle had 6000-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl before the season started?
