Pretty calm morning at the airport. Just the way I like it.

All packed and ready for Indy. The weather out there seems to be pretty fantastic. Maybe a small chance of rain, but that should be fine.

Now off to bed. Have an early wake up call to leave for the airport around 4:30 AM.

Guess I should read further down in my news feed. This one pretty much says "preventable".

I watched one of the documentaries a week or so ago. This place just seemed like an incredibly bad place to work from the jump. Incredibly sad and possibly easily avoidable.

Checking in to my flight to Indy this morning was a reminder that the cheapest route w/ SWA meant a 1-hr layover in Chicago and not the non-stop. I'm sure I'm going to regret saving that extra $50 or whatever TF it was. smh

I haven't been thru MDW since I moved back to AUS 7 yrs ago.

Trying to decide if I really want to go to the Drafthouse's Terror Tuesday tonight. It would have me home at midnight. I have to leave for the airport at 4:30 AM Wed. morning!

I can easily sleep on the plane, but just trying to get up might be an issue. Maybe take a nap and do an all-nighter?

Just look at that drop. It's going to be tough to make that back up and come out on top again for BC.

Really feels like Boston Crusaders picked a bad time to fall in several captions.

Overall GE score fell. Percussion and Brass fell. Visual Analysis and Proficiency as well. Definitely "Not great, Bob!"

FWIW, this was one of the research papers I was reading for pitcher/batter strikeout probability. I didn't use this approach since my model isn't accounting for that type of matchup, but this might be something I'll look into in the future.

Right now the model does factor in home/away splits. Ideally I would also add in a factor for home plate umpires and R/L batter handedness. But that may be for the next time I go to either Vegas (highly unlikely), Arizona or Indy next year.

Of course, I only have BetMGM and Draftkings on my phone with no $$ in my BetMGM account and over $800 in my DK account from that Philly Super Bowl win.

But again, only small bets. I might actually need that $800 sometime. Heh.

I'll also do the usual making futures bets on Super Bowl, etc.

Finished my pitcher strikeout modeling project. Basically set it up as an app where it grabs today's probable pitchers, &, w/ simulations along with today's odd's data, let's me know which bookmakers have the best expected value. I want to try to use it while in Indy (w/ small bets, of course).

In the meantime I finally was contacted by one of the state agencies for a position I applied for sometime back. I've been trying to get something, anything with these agencies. I'm just surprised, w/ all the applications I've done, it's taken this long to hear anything.

Interview this afternoon went really well, IMO. This was the Quality Engineer req w/ strong data analysis skills. Pretty much tailor made for me, especially given my most immediate experience the last 6 years.

Will see if it goes any further. I'm really hoping it does.

A little disappointed I won't be able to see this until Sunday since I'll be a little busy with DCI Finals later this week, but I'm so very much looking forward to WEAPONS!

My HS (up the road a few miles and in a way less affluent area) has a large footprint so had 3 football fields in back: the primary one w/ a track for the football team, a separate practice field, and the 3rd was for us in the marching band (no end zones, but 100 yds of space). Feel so lucky. (2/2)

Kills me every time I drive past the high school right at the entrance to my neighborhood, and the marching band is practicing in their parking lot (w/ hot pavement). As rich as the people are in this area, you'd think they'd have their own field already (HS is 35+ yrs old now). (1/2)

Yesterday was a weird day for me. I was incredibly restless, not being able to focus on any one thing. I just kept jumping from one task to another then back, not finishing any one (but making some progress). Might be a symptom of something.

Didn't like that feeling.

Hoping for a better day.

Pretty much what I've been saying to folks who ask the last few months. Since I'm tapping into my IRA, I might as well be semi-retired. This being my 3rd time unemployed in 12 years (total of 41 months), however, means that tap won't last long.

They did see a drop in proficiency going from 18.8 in Evansville to 18.3 in DeKalb (judge was H. Nguyen). Score went up to 18.7 in Mason.

Annoying to have to go to the other site to find out the DCI East Coast Showcase was a standstill performance (so no scores) tonight. Not sure if anyone mentioned it over here (please point me to them, if they did, so I can add them to my Drum Corps list).

Absolutely loved the new NAKED GUN! So much fun with a crowd. I probably laughed a little too hard, but I was with it the whole way through. Stick around for the very end of the credits (we had a full theater, but only 2 of us left at the end).

Definitely needed this!
