Mets will save ~$9 million in NPV on Manaea’s $75 million deal, with $23.25M deferred over 10 years, per @willsammon.bsky.social
Depending on how much is deferred from each season, the numbers could slightly change, but contract should land around $66 million ($22 million AAV).

Mets are going to try to turn Clay Holmes into a starter.
I think he has the potential with his sinker/slider/sweeper combination and the potential to add a changeup.

As we wait for Juan Soto’s decision, I am taking the speechwriter approach by drafting two newsletter intros:
One for if he signs with the Mets, and another for if he doesn’t.

🍎 A weekend edition of the Mets Fix newsletter just hit inboxes.
David Stearns’ latest moves show how much he values 40-man roster spots, and how decisions are being made independent of cost savings.
The decision to tender Paul Blackburn shows they are willing take financial risks for depth.

The Stanley Cap
To all my new followers, I have been working on a CapFriendly replacement called TheStanleyCap.com. All the important salary cap information is there and I believe is the most accurate that is publicly available. If you haven't already, I'd appreciate you checking it out and spread the word.

I’m going to guess you are an NBA fan, because we are all trained to think this way because of that sport lol

Mets sign another former Nat, and another career minor leaguer in Jakson Reetz.
Drafted in the third round of the 2012 Draft, he only has 17 MLB PAs, and 2820 MiLB PAs.
Has played some corner outfield on top of catching.
Has 1 option remaining.
Strikes out a lot, but has some pop.
