I wouldnโt be giving him any credit to be honest. He should have gone when Mandelson left his post as US ambassador.

Books, cats & a dog, choirs, foodie (one time food scientist), swimming, politics, history and Cork. Order depends on the day. Secularist.

08.02.2026 14:36 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No thank you - let them hold onto him - we have enough slรฉibhรญns on the books over here. The US might be more his style

Was very glad when Liam Quaide ran in our constituency and we finally had a SD on the ballot

06.02.2026 17:00 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I often wonder do these lads know the origin of the names of places like Derry. Maybe he should look for it to called Londonoak if heโs being all British about it
06.02.2026 11:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I cycled into school & then to college in the centre of Cork city in the 80s from the age of 12 in busy morning traffic. Rarely felt unsafe - it was a great way to get around. Live very rurally now and my teens donโt even own bikes. Occasionally see a few boys cycling in the summer. Way too risky
05.02.2026 19:14 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Canโt believe its there 30 years - such a great restaurant. Went to one of their Met at the cinema opera nights years ago - nowhere in Cork did it at the time. Must try to get back before it closes - at least its on their terms.

Everyone has their prejudices. When I started work in Teagasc years ago, I was told youโd never think you were from the city (with the understanding that being city-reared wasnโt a positive). It wasnโt the first time it was alluded to - similar happened in college.
03.02.2026 12:50 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Listened to a short Everything Everywhere Daily podcast earlier about the origin of Groundhog Day & within the first two mins Imbolc was mentioned.
