I notice this in cooking competition shows, especially older episodes. “Who hates women?” is a game I play.

Older episodes: it’s so many of the men and some of the women.
Newer episodes: maybe it’s edited out, but it seems to be fewer people (still mostly men)

I am glad I read this book, but oh gosh it made me angry!

If a sea otter is separated from its mom (she’s hit by a boat, for example), the baby will not survive. Their fur isn’t yet ready for cold ocean temps and they can’t feed themselves. Without human intervention they will die. This could be a video of a rescued sea otter pup.

Thanks for the rec! I want to host more and this was a good reminder why I want to host: connection with people.
I often get stuck because I want to host “perfectly,” with a level of effort that is honestly exhausting.

Jane Chord for Open Throat by Henry Hoke: I hear.

This works. The protagonist, a puma living outside of LA, hears humanity. I can’t review it more clearly without spoilers, but GO READ THIS BOOK. Holy hell. Five stars.

My TBR is over 600 books. I started the list in college. I doubt it will ever shrink significantly! It’s a lifetime list for me.

I picked up Careless People at the library! Finally! I was 834th in line when I requested it.

Will it be worth the wait? I hope so!
