I'm not defending it, just being accurate about what happened. DoD withholds a lot of information from the public, sometimes for good reasons. This administration doesn't get the benefit of the doubt though.

Together with my fellow Democrats, I am determined to defend every day the Constitution and Bill of Rightsβ€”and all the programmatic achievements of democracy like Medicaid, Medicare and Social Securityβ€”until we end Trump’s reign of lawlessness and injustice.

Defense Department will stop providing crucial satellite weather data Hurricane forecasters rely on weather data collected and processed by Department of Defense satellites. That data will no longer be available as of Monday, June 30.

DoD is stopping sharing the data. They are not shutting down the program. It's not good but this post is not accurate. www.npr.org/2025/06/28/n...

It’s Not Just a Constitutional Crisis in the Trump Era. It’s Constitutional Failure | Washington Monthly While Trump defies constitutional norms, Congress remains conspicuously silent and the Supreme Court has abdicated its responsibility.

"Reelecting an individual culpable for January 6 who has twice made a mockery of the presidential oath of office is itself a constitutional crisis. Nothing in his past or current behavior suggests that Trump has ever felt fidelity to his constitutional duties." washingtonmonthly.com/2025/06/27/i...

I signed the final bills Melissa Hortman shepherded through the most narrowly divided legislature in the county. All of them bipartisan.

We debated, we found common ground, and we compromised.

That’s how democracy should function.

Observation from the Rockville, MD "No Kings" event along Rockville Pike and had fantastic turnout. Positive honks and waves from drivers outnumbered middle fingers about 50:1. Of the fingers, all but one were from angry middle aged white guys alone in vehicles on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

My law firm is currently litigating 55 voting and election cases in 24 states. Two points:

This is a very large caseload for this point in the election cycle.

It is more evenly spread across states than usual which reflects the creep of voter suppression laws into even safe GOP states.

HHS cancels nearly $600 million Moderna contract on vaccines for flu pandemics HHS has notified Moderna that it is canceling a nearly $600 million contract for vaccines for flu strains that could trigger future pandemics.

BREAKING: HHS just killed a $600M Moderna contract for pandemic flu vaccines.
The platform: mRNAβ€”the fastest we have against threats like H5N1.
The reason? RFK Jr.’s skepticism.
The risk? Deadly delays when the next pandemic hits.

Missouri Supreme Court defies voters, halts abortions in the state Despite passage of a constitutional amendment last fall, the ping-pong battle over "reproductive freedom" continues.

One might have thought that last November, when Missourians voted to enshrine β€œreproductive freedom" in the state constitution, that would have been the end of the conversation.

Alas, the Missouri Supreme Court doesn’t seem to be inclined to listen. This week, the court halted abortions.

At Veterans Affairs, plan for sweeping cuts tanks morale The government’s second-largest agency, serving some of America’s most vulnerable citizens, is slated to lose 83,000 employees under Trump administration cutbacks.

When the Trump admin says they love the military and our veterans, make sure everyone understands the number of VA employees who are being cut. Not to mention, a vast portion of the federal workforce being let go are veterans.
