It sucks at these basic "intelligence" tasks, so I distrust it when performing more complicated tasks.

I have hundreds of examples of it failing more rigorous queries as well.

If my phone's calculator was wrong 10% of the time, I'd question if it was equally bad at making calls or sending emails.

That Silo fish example is a big one. Deciphering text is supposed to be AI's strong suit and it couldn't even do that!

I was genuinely shocked when his take crossed my timeline!

The next few times it interprets text for you, try disagreeing with the output by saying "no, that's wrong" and I guarantee you'll be surprised at (1) how many times it replies "you're right, I got XYZ wrong!" and (2) how often you missed that incorrect answer to begin with.

Oh heck yeah, a new AI model that still can't tell us how many letter R's appear in a total string of three words!

"GPT-5 hardly ever hallucinates", I read from people who had preview access. Okay, then why did it take me only 3 prompts to get the first hallucination from it?

Sure, it knew the number of R's in strawberry. Yet not in 2/3 of the words in a sentence with 25 characters.

Maybe GPT-6 will fix it.😏
