Well done, centering yourself as an illustration of what Black people face when asking white people to listen to their experiences and help. Bravo.

The assignment was to listen, understand, and help - not react with defensive outrage.

I constantly have to battle against being told I'm drug seeking. Being told I'm not trying hard enough to get better. Being forced to try meds and treatments that torture me. Just to prove that I'm not drug seeking and that I'm actually in pain.

I don't need unsolicited advice.

I'm not saying that all white people get great medical care but you aren't getting bad care due to medical racism for example. I don't have the same options. Some white people can ask for things in medical settings. But if I do, I get rejected and treated poorly.

We live in different worlds and it would benefit a lot of white people to listen more than they give unsolicited advice. It's so performative. And centers themselves. When they should be realizing that Black and other marginalized groups do not get the same access to care.

It's easy to say all the things I should do regarding being abused by medical workers when you don't use your privilege to help me in any way that's meaningful. It's easy to talk to me like I haven't tried everything. And treating me like I'm inferior. It's condescending.

I've been getting a lot of unsolicited advice especially from white people. I'm Black. I don't get treated the same as you. I can't just switch doctors. I'll be labelled negatively & get no care at all. Yes it's wrong. But at the end of the day, you won't do anything about it.

I met with a constituent who was participating in a cancer treatment trial that DOGE deemed unnecessary. I was proud to help advocate for Richard so he could resume his treatment.

Cancer patients are not waste, fraud, and abuse. They're our loved ones who deserve care.

Starting tomorrow Georgians will be able to log on and see their health insurance rates for next year.

Sadly, many will see that their premiums have doubled or more because of Republican cuts.

This is why I cannot vote for a budget that fails to fund health care.

I was sent this by a Georgian this morning. 2025 premiums vs 2026 premiums for someone making $65k a year.

Republicans in Washington did this.

This is what I'm fighting to stop. This is what’s at stake in this shutdown fight.
