Italian Unions are constitutionally protected in their right to call a General Strike over political and social issues, as they see fit.

In the U.S., Unions are legally *barred* from doing so, would be sanctioned, sued, and destroyed by the NLRB.

Do not accept the corporate media framing that the ongoing genocide is because of Hamas and that this only started on Oct 7. The occupation has been happening for more than 70 years, and Israel used Oct 7 as a pretext for genocide, the same way that the US used 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq.

Gandhi and MLK Jr were both part of bigger political movements. Their tactics were not the only tactics, nor were their tactics the sole reason for the gains made, nor even the most important part. They were simply tactics. Do not over value them, or misunderstand their use.

“Non-violent protest” is an action, a mere tactic. It’s nothing if it’s just by itself. It needs to be part of a wider strategy, a whole cohesive political movement. The tactic itself is not actually essential, the political movement is.

This is the real calculation: it’s not great, but is it above our bare minimum requirements?

We have to reject “lesser evil” and have some line that divides acceptable from unacceptable. Is this above that line? We figure that out first, and go from there.

Saying that the “Dems cannot be reformed” is a line that misses the point, and misunderstand the historical dialectics around the concept.

Reform vs Revolution is about intent and goals, not structure or method. It’s about different Ends, not Means.

We need proletarian aligned people to defeat bourgeois aligned people.

That’s the real parties.

Not “Democrat” or “Republican” or anything else.

There’s a political oligarchy in service to the bourgeois, and they need to be defeated, their power taken from them.

To do that, we need a proletarian political movement to contest and conquer the levers of power.

All political struggle and conflict implies “violence” in that political power and enforcement of law is at the very least an implicit threat of force.

So that much is true.

But mass bloodshed is not implied the same way, and not in fact guaranteed. That line is historically wrong.

The civil rights movement had a mass political movement.

Their protests were in support of that political movement. Of the two pieces, it was the political part that was critical, and the protest part that was secondary, in support of it.

Our problem is we ONLY have the secondary, supportive part.
