Very sad to be losing Alex as a direct colleague at Brookes but also incredibly proud of him for joining Warwick's prestigious law school. Also glad he's staying in Oxford (for at least one obvious reason)! πŸ’•

I binge watched What It Feels Like for a Girl on BBC iPlayer over the weekend and it took me right back to secretly watching Queer as Folk on 4oD as a teenager. Amazing performances, soundtrack, and storytelling. This is the kind of complex representation queer, non-binary, and trans people deserve.

Number of disabled workers facing bullying, discrimination and harassment β€œshockingly high”, TUC warns Nearly four in ten (39%) of disabled workers have experienced bullying, discrimination and harassment at work.

Glad the Welfare Bill was watered down by rebels, but the continued refrain of ministers that disabled people must "get back to work" is oppressive. There is an urgent need to prevent bullying, discrimination and harassment *before* you force us into unsafe workplaces: www.tuc.org.uk/news/number-...

I'll also be backing Rachel Millward for Deputy Leader of the Green Party.

Our leadership team needs her exceptional ability to communicate the party's values, building on decades of fundraising and media expertise.

This will be necessary for us to confront far-right myths and win over the public.

It probably surprises no one that I'm endorsing Zack Polanski to be the next leader of the Green Party.

Our leadership team needs to be offering a bold left-wing alternative to the status quo.

That's why I added my name to his campaign early on as a councillor: www.politicshome.com/news/article...

Glad to share that I have a new job title of Senior Lecturer in Criminology *and* Sociology as I've been asked to lead modules such as Gender and Society and Sociology of Health and Illness next year. I also like to think that this better reflects my research background and disciplinary promiscuity.

The book cover of 'Not Sex Work: Queer Intimacy, Post-identity, and Incidental Encounters in the Digital Era' by Max Morris, part of the 'Interdisciplinary Studies in Sex for Sale' series by Routledge.

"This book explores the parallel histories and intersecting politics of LGBTQ+ people and sex workers, including the role of digital media in shaping the experiences of both in the early twenty-first century. Drawing on the first empirical study with gay, bisexual, and queer young men who agreed to sell sex online without advertising or identifying as sex workers, it examines what the term β€˜incidental sex work’ means. Adopting queer methods and feminist theories to explore how definitions of β€˜sex’ and β€˜work’ have become increasingly unstable in the digital era, it considers how casual, occasional, and unprofessional forms of sex work are arranged on different platforms, from Grindr to OnlyFans. This book will appeal to students and researchers studying sex work and social media across a wide range of fields. It will also be useful for campaigners, policymakers, and healthcare practitioners interested in the implications of incidental sex work."

Obviously the Guardian is complicit in this happening, but I think many complacent liberals have been shocked into realising what they were bothsidesing all along, and this article highlights important stuff including solidarity between disabled and trans people. No "clash of rights" discourse here.

I’m in Oxford tomorrow to talk about doing creative queer legal work. Given current political hostilities, we must think critically and creatively about how we work with/against law to better support communities. You can join online at 4pm (UK time): url.uk.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/q5qACX7Dju...
