I do think itβs quite funny that the Gorton & Denton by-election campaign mangers for @greenparty.org.uk have released the doorknocking data. This is usually kept v confidential.
Anyway, it seems like a great campaign so far - go team!
Farage is very quiet about Mandelson - you'd think he'd be all over it like a rash.
Wonder why??? π€
This is a neverending cycle too, universities get to the end point, and then start again.
And, in the meantime, we're expected to just keep delivering teaching, research, support, etc.
I read thousands of pages of Epstein files this weekend trying to understand what he wanted out of his meeting with 4chan's Christopher Poole. Here's everything we know about Epstein's plans to dismantle the internet and, eventually, democracy.
www.garbageday.email/p/here-s-how...
Starmer has serious questions to answer about what his government knew, and when, about Mandelson's Epstein ties. Shocking that this man was made ambassador - he should have no role in public life. And we absolutely need a police enquiry into leaks.

Just seen a clip of the Reform Candidate for Gorton and Denton arguing that βscience has already shownβ that there are βinherent differences between groupsβ.
Whichβ¦. Sounds a bit eugenicsy.
Reminder that "jaywalking" was literally made up by american car manufacturers to shift the blame for accidents from drivers to pedestrians. "Jay" was a slang term meaning "idiot" or "rube".
02.02.2026 23:21 β π 1514 π 537 π¬ 27 π 20I was once a very junior news agency reporter, which among its many elements exposes you briefly to quite a lot of famous/influential people for whom you are quite unimportant. How they treated you could be illuminating. Peter Mandelson was β twice β by *far* the most dismissive and unpleasant.

Provide safe space and the "problem" will disappear.
Not everybody can or wants to drive. Councils should have a mandate to provide them with safe spaces.
These moments will be crucial - not just in establishing who can provide a viable electoral vehicle to progressive voters, but also in aggressively demonstrating to Labour the danger of adopting a Reform position on immigration.

02.02.2026 07:16 β π 1011 π 322 π¬ 49 π 21Mandelson last week did a comeback/damage limitation interview with photographer for the Times magazine, which I'm guessing was planned to run at a future date but has been pushed out online on a Monday night because of events. Thanks.
Early days of Wikipedia had serious discussion if DRM article would be named "Digital Restrictions Management," because it entails you no rights in the technical sense.
(I've tried to find the discussion but haven't, trust me we had it)
I'm impressed that you got this far.
Come back when you can convince me you're a real person.
It was struggling to get CLP to let them even select a candidate.
As for the nomination, it was an agreement to under-nominate so that four candidates from different parties would continue to represent each ward. Saving the town council Β£8k. Labour agreed, locally.
Then and now the focus on individuals - Peter Mandelson and Michelle Mone - diverts attention from the real point. Our institutions, which should protect the public, just nod along with what is a kind of theft by the privileged. No one goes to prison, no one is ever held accountable.
02.02.2026 18:59 β π 402 π 114 π¬ 8 π 6It's like the Tory VIP Lane. Michael Gove was so sure there would be no accountability that, under his leadership, Cabinet Office *institutionalised* a preference in granting contracts for those connected to Tory MPs. Folks with those connections stripped the public purse of generational fortunes.
02.02.2026 18:54 β π 300 π 60 π¬ 2 π 0So much of this sleaze was in plain sight. When US Ambassador, Mandelson took Starmer for a photo opp at Palantir, a client of Global Counsel in which he had a huge stake. This was a monstrous conflict of interest and it was all public domain. Why did Starmer think it appropriate to go?

Regular discussion with a relative, until they were expelled from Labour for nominating a Green town council candidate in an under-nominate agreement.
I've so far received two sets of leaflets from the Greens AND been doorknocked and the only sign of a Labour campaign I've had has been crap facebook ads.
02.02.2026 19:33 β π 15 π 1 π¬ 2 π 1Interesting. That's Hannah Spencer, Green plumber and candidate in Gorton and Denton.
02.02.2026 18:46 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0The amount of misogyny being directed at the Green Party's candidate in Gorton and Denton is genuinely shocking.
I never expect good things from Reform louts but bloody hell.
Zack Polanski challenges Nigel Farage to show down debate.
Let's talk about who funds Reform.
Let's talk about how disastrous Brexit has been.
Let's talk about why Gorton & Denton must vote Green & stop Reform.
Why so quiet, Nigel Farage?
I welcome the news that the Workers Party of Great Britain is not fielding a candidate in the Gorton & Denton by-election, because George Galloway and his poisonous brand of politics should be nowhere near the progressive city of Manchester.
