If I'm at my desk, I 100% prefer videos to podcast audio-only style because I find that I focus and engage with video better than audio when I'm stationary, with music as the only exception. Even something like Well There's Your Problem's slideshow format helps me focus way better than audio-only.

Two perfect examples of Americanisms.
1. Toilet w/o washlet: "Not Invented Here" syndrome
2. Showers with no water pressure: malicious compliance. It's about making people mad so they push for getting rid of water efficiency regulations. Other places can do low-flow/high-pressure but not here.

The only huge headline would be actual particle detection, and I have no idea if that'll happen anytime soon, but verification of CDG-2 seems to me incompatible with 1/r theories. I don't really see how Birkeland currents would apply at cosmological scales, but I don't follow the literature closely.

It was a very small bit by this point, really, as the recent experiments made the prospect of extremely-low-density regions of space where gravity starts looking like 1/r instead of 1/r^2 less and less likely. I think the observations of CDG-2 have finally finished it off for me.

A Galaxy Composed Almost Entirely of Dark Matter Has Been Confirmed
What scientists thought were four separate star clusters are actually part of one nearly invisible system.
As one who still held out a bit of hope for Modified Newtonian Dynamics rather than particle-based Dark Matter, I think this result has put the last nail in MOND's coffin.

This picture is so crazy that if you had this as a scene in a made-for-TV dystopian scifi movie in like 2014 people would switch channels because youβd ruined the suspension of disbelief.

A very troubling aspect is that it wasn't classified as a Type A mishap in the first place. The Type A definition on this PDF explicitly states "Unexpected crewed aircraft departure from controlled flight occurred" -- which is exactly what happened, even though they recovered control later.

To use my usual example, the Atari 2600βwhich has 128 bytes of RAM totalβwas sold commercially, somewhere in the world, from 1977 to 1992. Its programmers kept discovering new things they could make it do, because they had reason to plumb its depths.

opinion: The subtractive bias we're ignoring
"Semantic ablation" is the perfect term for what you get outsourcing written language to a slop machine:
