Ah I get people not really giving a shit. (Although they probably moan that the community isn't what it was, no shit sherlock). But actually wanting it is different, don't see them.

Who wants this? With some petty shit, say noise complaints closing music venues some* people are pleased. I really can't imagine there is any constituency in favour of banning the village cricket team.

Someone should do a reality TV show where people compete to complete the Peter Bleksley run against the clock. First episodes are euphoric blasting tunes & singing loud, ends with catatonia at 3am in Leigh Delamere services Costa.

"Behold, we have forgotten in these modern times the true nemesis of the Tory party. Whiggism. "

Yes, their route to survival is perhaps to hang on as best they can the socially liberal home counties/rural. Trying to go after Reforms lunch and burning their remaining vote in Surrey to the ground in the process is bonkers. I guess the 'we are now a regional party' is a hard pill to swallow.

There is a difference between '97 and now. In '97 it was highly likely the next government would be Tory. They were never going to win in 2001, but hold tight and 2005 might just work kind of vibe, "so we can muck about a while and be fine". Now the chances of the next government being Tory are slim

I'm sorry sir, you have to choose your tea from this three day old, beige, stale horrible buffet of political parties. The chef cannot make you a sandwich.

I love doing daft stuff I get to do with my kids, sledging, water slides, three legged race. If someone else also enjoys these and doesn't have kids, or have kids with them. This is fine.

See also the separate discourse on Badenoch and Pratchett going on. It really pisses us of when politicians we don't like, like incredibly popular and objectively good things we like. And somehow are surprised.

Yes it's unusual, it's usually reserved for acts of their own youth. Festivals are good for this, you get to see the mad older hardcore fan bases of lots of older bands. But TS has broken a generational containment you're right.

That's makes no sense. I should have said someone in their 50s in 1997 liking blur, or someone in 1970 liking the Beatles.

07.10.2025 08:54 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's just good popular pop. It's no different from a fifty year old in 1997 saying they like the Beatles.

As well as music we do this with football, the most popular sport in the country, but when a politician says I'm a fan the reaction is "really? No this is just a bit right"

I know lots of swifties in their 30s /40s. I think it's just we want, no need our politicians to be desperately uncool, and don't believe them when they turn out to have normal tastes.

Can't fault it from the bends , and I guess for someone cleggs age that's a logical album to fave. Cynically he probably prepared a favourite as if he said I like Radiohead people would have gone , yeah? name 25 songs.

It is inevitable lots of politicians like Radiohead, unfortunately it is now clearly dad rock. Sigh.

Is it possible they know they don't have a cat in hells chance of forming the next government, so can basically say whatever they want and ignore pesky maths?. Maybe adapting to the new reality a bit after all.

Perhaps it's a captive audience waiting for a train. Affluent commuters who've forgotten someone's birthday and have 15 minutes to kill?

Yes , also doing a three minute single take walking down deansgate is a nice touch. It would be less impactful if he did it from his no doubt very nice house.
