Masked officers in camo
Masked armed men watch a mother and her children go to school.
This morning: MPD and ATF conducted a massive paramilitary operation, with officers in masks and camo, in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of DC within 500 yards of an elementary school while neighborhood children were heading to school.
On their third day of classes.
The Department of Energy HQ is purportedly cancelling all pending #FOIA requests submitted before October 1, 2024, unless the requester emails a specific address w/i 30 days asking the agency to continue processing.
This is wildly illegal.

31.07.2025 12:58 β π 9 π 13 π¬ 0 π 0On July 4, 2025, President Donald Trump signed congressional Republicansβ One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) into lawβenacting the largest-ever cuts to basic needs programs in U.S. history in order to fund tax cuts for the ultrawealthy. The lawβs provisions have dozens of staggered beginning and ending dates over the next decade. Below is a timeline that details the enactment dates of cuts to health care and food assistance, the cancellation of policies to make American-made energy more affordable, the implementation of tax changes, and the enactment of policies that will raise the costs of higher education.
New from @lucerowx.bsky.social and the team at @americanprogress.bsky.social: a timeline for implementation of the "one big beautiful bill" that will bring so much unnecessary harm to America.

Is this abundance?
This project was approved under FAST-41, meaning it had expedited permit approvals. It also had labor, domestic supply chain, power offtake agreements for communities attached to it... meaning a whole lot of high quality American jobs and affordable energy just went up in flames.

07.07.2025 20:13 β π 13 π 8 π¬ 1 π 0The Republicans are voting now for massive layoffs and bankruptcies throughout the clean energy economy β a trillion dollar investment in a better future, abandoned.
The world we would have built is so different from the one we will now have to live in.
This comparsion in the NYTimes today is pretty stark. China is racing ahead to be a high-tech exporter of 21st century technologies, while the US is doubling down on being a petro-state exporting the technologies of the 19th century: www.nytimes.com/inte...

β Termination of the Fuel Economy Standards for new cars and trucks.
β A new tax subsidy for coal.
It's a collection of the worst, most harmful ideas you can imagine. And the Republican Senate is voting for them now.
But if you're one of the tens of Americans who makes their living mixing dyes into fuel, has the Senate got some good news for you!

12.06.2025 22:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I used to staff a senator from California. There is no way that anything like what just happened to Senator Padilla would ever have been thought possible before this regime's powergrab. If the Senate does not assert itself, it is lost.
12.06.2025 20:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0While announcing her intent to liberate Los Angeles from its elected officials, the Secretary of Homeland Security oversaw the use of force against a sitting U.S. Senator who dared to question her.
Things were already bad, and this is a major escalation.
Thanks to @lucerowx.bsky.social and @jasia.bsky.social, my coauthors. And thanks to @energyinnovation.org and @rhg.com for their consistently excellent energy systems modeling.
12.06.2025 17:39 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We could have built a grid that would supply up to 88 percent of its electricity without any fossil fuel costs by 2035. Repealing federal clean energy investment will cost us so much.
12.06.2025 17:37 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0That means wasting money on expensive and polluting fuel that didn't need to be burned. It means higher costs for households and manufacturers. It makes it harder for data centers and new factories to be placed on the grid. It means hundreds of thousands of lost construction jobs.
12.06.2025 17:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Some new baseload gas plants might come online instead (no more than 10 GW/yr), but in place of the new clean affordable electricity that would have been built, power plants would be called on to generate more power, unnecessarily consuming expensive and polluting fuel.
