I can remember flannel 'monster shirts' in the 70s and 60s (UK).
I think the idea was that it was some lone hermit changing into 'something else' :)

A woman used to feed a 'stray' by me.
It wasn't a stray; it was going from house to house to load up on food, then going home.
Now the woman has passed on the cat comes to me for food (and is sorely disappointed!).

It's pretty much The Battle in the Mutara Nebula for me.
I saw it upon release and it was unlike anything I'd seen before. This was a real space battle (using three dimensions, even!) taking its cue from submarine warfare.
Not hairpin zippy turns, just ponderous mass.

I love that someone's mug of tea is keeping warm on the old, circular, space heater :)
