This is so so disturbing. Trump is now pardoning January 6th rioters for unrelated crimes, just to reward them for their violence to keep him in power.

The Republican Party is in the full time business of endorsing and incentivizing political violence. So scary.

This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.

I looked it up once. SNAP takes 2% of the US budget and 93% of the money goes to the actual poor people instead of to the bureaucracy. So it's kind of like if you paid $1000 in taxes, you spent $20 on the poor of which they got to keep $18.60, and you spent $166.66 on the military.

Great 🧡; this is the main point. If the President can spend money on whatever he wants without congressionally mandated appropriations we don't have separation of powers, or even really a constitutional republic (at least under the terms of our constitution). We just don't.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

Trump Canceled 94 Million Pounds of Food Aid. Here’s What Never Arrived. ProPublica obtained records from the Department of Agriculture that detail the millions of pounds of food, down to the number of eggs, that never reached food banks because of the administration’s cut...

The Trump administration has cancelled 4,304 deliveries to food banks so far this year, refusing to deliver 94 million pounds of contracted-for food. Food banks simply can’t feed people enough anymore. Millions of Americans are going hungry as a result.

1/ If Justice Barrett thinks we need to go back to what the Founding Fathers intended, I’ve got news for her. Their biggest concern was avoiding tyranny. So they created 3 branches of gov’t & divvied up the power the people (that’s us) were allowing the gov’t to use to create order for all of us.

Folks can argue about the relevancy of the β€œDemocratic socialist” label all day. But if that’s what you’re hung up on, you’re missing the larger point.

People aren’t chasing labels. They’re chasing change. Real, structural, unapologetic change.

Democrats don’t care about being β€œDemocrats” anymore. They care about results. We’re tired of performative politics, tired of getting steamrolled by a GOP that plays dirty while our leaders beg for bipartisanship like it’s still 1992.

This article doesn’t appear to be available online yet, but let me just tell you it is galling.

Elders are starving because DOGE cut $1b in food bank grants.

And now, cuts to the Agriculture Department in the looming budget bill along with SNAP cuts are destroying what funding was left.
