which means no one is totally without responsibility in our government. everyone needs to be held accountable for this moment. if your reps aren't speaking out, they need to do more.

this is also where this horrible moment in time in this country was made possible by oligarchy™️ as well. I can't help but conclude that those tactics were agreeable to those demons because it prevented real class consciousness or political engagement.

and this goes for Republicans pre-Trump as well. these people are to blame not just for actively ushering fascism into our country (i.e. not impeaching Trump) but setting the stage for it. this kind of diversionary tactic is absolutely vile and made us vulnerable to the extreme.

all of the "culture war" nonsense was always complete nonsense. Grifters exploiting the existing differences between Americans (particularly the young/old and urban/rural) that were new and vulnerable, so that the oligarchy could more easily continue without anyone noticing. and people fell for it.

there is no silver lining to our authoritarian decline (it's daily hell), but here's more post-hoc condemnation of the last 10 years of partisan politics that makes me feel a bit saner.
