If comics were the most popular thing tomorrow you wouldn’t be able to walk into a store and buy them. Eventually publishers would lean into the scarcity and hype just like last time. But now it would be worse with hindsight and tech.

A lot of digital ink has been spilled about why western comics aren’t more popular. But looking at resale trends like mystery box toys, trading cards, and sneakers I’m straight up glad they aren’t. Every comic fan knows about the 90s.

I know this is way more broad than that but how is Tabasco, easily the worst hot sauce, best known for being tolerable if you got nothing else, the only one in every restaurant in America?
Is it one of those weird marketing hat tricks from 50 years ago people just excepted?
