12.10.2025 18:30 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Lost viola bow on the way from Honor Oak Station to Heathrow Terminal 2. The bow slid from its bow case somewhere along the way, possibly on the train. TFL contacted already. It weighs 68.2 grams and has got a stamped DODD next to the frog. If any info on this, please pm me.
My friend Sascha is a professional musician and he's lost a viola bow on the way to Heathrow. Please signal boost to help him get it back.

@unamccormack.bsky.social said I was bound to know someone on the list, and I did. I worked with Peter Maydew back in the day. He did the HW for CCD systems, and I did the firmware and SW. I remember him being a lovely chap who put up with an insufferable 25yo me.
Unexpected rabbit hole today is discovering that "Phwoar!" was first recorded by the dictionary in 1976, and 1972's Carry On Matron may be its first film appearance.
I thought I'd found an earlier 60s TV use, but it seems "Phwoar!" is firmly a 70s phenomenon.

(And 100% agreed - accessibility is really important.
Our much missed designer Paul Waller wrote quite a bit about it. Here's one on use of colour. endjin.com/blog/2023/02... )
The economics of self-releasing music as physical media, a thread.
My first self-released CD is SEA OTTERS by The Bionics, an album of Not-Quite-Techno made in a very analogue way, and on our Bandcamp page along with 17 back catalogue treats.

I quite like the way "The Nerve" design looks like they have defrosted late 1980s/early 1990s "Youth" TV from a cryogenic store they found in a cellar when they redeveloped Television Centre.
