Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together.

I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.

No one will ever be pure enough for fascism. It's why they start eating each other. It's a whole movement built on a foundation of lies and prejudice and funded by wealth that's afraid of losing power. It should be treated like the terrorism it is.

They kept trying to force it. I always thought Monica and Chandler were the best romance in the show. Given that it was a slow burn friends to lovers in a show called 'Friends'. Even when they were together they never stopped being friends first.

Albanese’s Waterloo isn’t electoral. It’s existential. Herzog’s visit crystallises the wound: a Prime Minister who’d rather host a figure the UN accuses of inciting genocide than lead his nation’s conscience against one.

β€˜A cultural icon’: axed Australian literary journal Meanjin finds new life in Queensland The 85-year-old magazine will return to the city for which it was named after a successful bid by Queensland University of Technology

Jewish Australians are Australian. Conflating Judaism with Zionism, an ethnonationalist ideology, and buying into the far right Israeli government's belief that the global Jewish population are Israel citizens before anything else, will only deepen the divisions #auspol seeks to heal.

Palmer admits he spoke to Trump strategist Bannon about 2019 campaign Palmer, who told the ABC this week he had β€œnever spoken to Bannon”, said on Wednesday he had received a short phone call from the former White House adviser.

The billionaire β€œsaid all planning and execution of the campaign, which was dominated by anti-China and anti-climate change messages, was carried out in close consultation with then-finance minister Mathias Cormann.”

That's backed up by studies too, poorer people tend to be more generous and empathetic than those in higher income brackets. I just didn't expect so many of the rich and powerful to be comic book levels of heartless and murderous villains.

Education savings plans and the quiet erosion of public schooling Education savings schemes appear sensible and responsible. But their quiet rise reflects a deeper failure – a loss of confidence in Australia’s commitment to properly fund public education as a shared civic good.

Education savings plans look prudent. But their rise points to a deeper problem – declining confidence in public education as a guaranteed public good, driven by chronic underinvestment in the school system, writes John Frew.

Romance is the reason. Romance is the most popular genre of books published. A romance TV show that really hits the β€˜cinematic beats’ of a romance novel β€” I don’t think we’ve ever seen it. This feels to us in the romance genre what we get every time we read a romance novel. Welcome to the club. The thing about this adaptation is it never shies away from the idea that the feelings of Shane and Ilya are what’s really important. Romance readers are not ashamed of the idea that the people you fall in love with can change your whole life. When I see a romance adaptation that’s a little too cool for feelings … you have to really lean in to the idea that there is nothing shameful about love, and the people you fall in love with being important to your life and your happiness.”

Bill Shorten questions β€˜forces at play’ after Steve Bannon’s claim he helped Clive Palmer, damaging Labor’s 2019 election chances Former opposition leader says Bannon’s purported claim, which Palmer has denied, would be a β€˜badge of honour’ for him

Oligarchy (noun):

A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

The Epstein files have shown just how cheap and disposable other humans are to these people. Their wealth and power has facilitated their worst instincts without consequence, they abuse and murder without consequence, they lie and lie about it without consequence. I've never been so disgusted.

OrbΓ n was smarter about it, but yeah the systems in place turned out to be hollow after all. I don't know how you come back from that. No one is going to trust US institutional power after this. Even if Trump is impeached today, the USA betrayed its people, its allies, and its own constitution.

I didn't believe US institutions would hold for long, there is part of them that agrees with the American exceptionalism Trump gives voice too. I am surprised how quickly other countries folded, at least at first. I'm not surprised the people became the true bulwark against fascism.

An Iranian colleague once said that many in Iran aren't religious, they just say they are. Why would they be when it is a weapon wielded as an excuse to kill those they love? That is the simplest truth of people, I think, a desire to be freely and peacefully themselves with those they love.

But they took the wrong lessons from the 20thC. The truth is closer to: "You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time". The tighter the grip, the more extreme and cruel, and the more resolute the resistance.

They are too far into their ideology, too selfish, to understand the cause and effect of people. They know history at its shallowest and most self serving. They know advertising works. That propaganda works. They've fooled themselves into thinking it's easier than it is. The Edward Bernays playbook.

They thought they would attract 10 people to a weekly knit-along.

They’ve sold 70,000 copies, raising more than $250k for immigrant aid groups.

Though as unrelentingly brutal as they can be, the hope hits harder when they use it. Like when Mccade's characters are falling into a numbness about their job until they find both victims alive or when Ashe shows how small, kind, quiet moments can make a big difference.
