New TYP lab paper out today in @cp-neuron.bsky.social led by PhD student @alexlish.bsky.social! We took a deep dive into the mechanisms underlying CLU in AD using innovative iPSC, mouse, and human data approaches. Be sure to give it a read!

We've been studying mechanisms of resilience that protect lysosomes from damage and wrote a review on the topic. We consider lysosomal stress and damage on a spectrum. Please help me share as this is my first post ๐ and I don't have many followers! ๐ Open Access: www.embopress.org/doi/full/10....

Stand Up For Science next Friday (3/7)! In 2024, Georgia institutions received just over $1 billion in funding and had more than $30 billion in economic impact in GA. That's a PHENOMENAL return for tax payers- let's share that news!

The dietary supplement industry in the United States is estimated to be worth $70 billion or more. The supplement market grew by 50% from 2018 to 2020. It is estimated that 100,000 unique supplements are currently available for purchase.
The FDA requires the following disclosure be displayed on the package of all supplements: "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure, or prevent any disease." Be skeptical of any supplement that is marketed with claims contrary to that disclosure. Always consult with your primary care provider before starting or stopping any supplement regimen.
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Harvard Health reports on the recent ruling that the makers of Prevagen can no longer claim their #supplement improves #memory. The author recommends being wary about supplement marketing claims, which are often false, misleading, or based on insufficient research.

Donald Trump has been sworn in, and his new administration has immediately turned its sights on the NIH. The danger to US biomedical research has never been more acute. sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-attack-o...
27.01.2025 16:17 โ ๐ 89 ๐ 36 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 2Started off this morning emailing my Senators and Congressman about the NIH and the potential damage being done by unnecessary disruptions.
They need to hear from us loud and clear. Constituents matter to them as one of the primary purposes of a politician is to get re-elected (and its their job).
Excited to share the lab's recent publication. Granulins are critical for lysosome function and brain health to prevent neurodegeneration. Our data suggest that granulin peptides could be used to treat frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Parkinsonโs disease, Alzheimerโs disease.
