Interesting point. I don't think the Kobayashi Maru is ever mentioned or acknowledged in TNG? I think it had to do with the rights split of the films and tv shows, with the exception of the Khitomer accords, not much else from the TOS movies is mentioned I think.

Season 2 rocks in its own special way, and from 3 onwards its generally excellent.
