Your argument does not feel like it's in good faith here, but let's assume it is.

The demonstrable harm of ai use, and of the pollution caused by the data centers, is exponentially more than measurable social media harm.

Generally when something is extremely bad for society and popular we use legislation to make it difficult. Drunk driving was very popular. Littering was very popular. Corporations dumping waste into waterways was very popular.

Popular is not the issue. The harm is the issue.

It doesn't matter if it's genuinely popular if number one there is important to anyone. It's monstrously bad for the environment, mental health, and every profession it's being shoved in to. And its all built on stolen data.
