people keep saying this but I'm really not seeing it. I lost maybe 10 permenant Oomfies to bluesky or discord but the website feels almost identical except the Weird Asshole brigade went from lefty something awful forum folks to Nazi accounts you block on site.

We can pretend that they just really want to defend this website from horrific Nazis (read: people more liberal than 85% of the country) but the truth is the Something Awful style of asshole who loves to bully people online took over this website 2 years ago.

What I find particularly funny about this situation is Bluesky has an ungodly number of options to ensure you never see an account you don't like, yet the harassment here is so much more acute for anyone the Power Blob doesn't like

I think the issue is that kind of Main Character syndrome is the experience for every account here that the blob of power users don't like, whereas on Twitter that gun got pointed at one account every 3 days in a sea of millions
