As long as you're happy paying for your lifetime of care when you're a paraplegic or non-compos as a result of a 15kmh collision with a hard surface, I'm quite happy with you not wearing a helmet.
But if you're expecting the state to look after you, when you didn't bother, forget it.
Not NZ.
Wrong geography
NZ isn't really that affordable.
05.02.2026 05:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The work situation is really bad here, expecially if you've come from big-biz high-tech.
Shit wages, expensive cost of living, isolated technically and geographically
I had decades at Silicon Valley corps, in Europe and Asia, and if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a kiwi, I wouldn't be here.
Lots of hurdles to get through to emigrate to Australia: health, education/qualifications/required skills, history, character.
Easy if he's already a NZ citizen, but for any other country, be prepared for a costly and time-consuming process.

To most people itโs like a big truck going past or a gust of wind on the windows
We do get the odd big one, but even those mostly donโt do much damage as we build for them.
Glad your vet enjoyed us ๐
Just been told/shown a new scam - my elderly silver surfer received a letter in the post asking her to change the payment details of her St.Johns emergency service
Rang St.Johns, they havenโt changed anything and itโs not the way they would go about it
So the bastards are getting more cunning #nz
Second-hand and refurb are very reasonable.
An iPhone SE 3 is eminently usable and around $250-300
We're not dobbing you in, bro.
We got this ๐
Jesus, really?
She's not American, isn't a multimillionaire, doesn't fucking owe you or your fucking damned country a single fucking damned thing, but it's 'not enough'?
How much did you give? Be specific.

spotted on Christmas holidays in Derby, a copy of your book being read aloud by two cackling teachers who both found it absolutely charming and full of fun and memories.
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable read.
Get her an iPhone and enable all the security provisions like facial recognition and she'll be fine - as long as she isn't the one handing over her details to the scammers

I bought seven pairs of high quality, well-fitting, well-made undies for the price of one of theirs, from a well-known Asian online retail marketplace.
Don't you think $44, for what is basically a fancy print and some elastic, just the slightest bit elitist?
Likely no WoF, bald tyres and a loud/blown exhaust.
Doesn't take much to get a green sticker.
Who could have foreseen that making a lot of people redundant while doing nothing much to bring the economy back into growth for a whole year would result in high unemployment
It's a mystery for the ages

1000 grams at $400 a gram in 2023.
That money coming out of the pockets of those least able to afford it, causing more crime and misery
You lay down with dogs...

Are taxpayers really paying to save farmers from having to protect their farms from browsers?
No wonder farmers love National
As a technophobe, anything but the most rudimentary protection will be beyond her, unless she subscribes to a very tied-down system that will drive her batty forcing her to remember multiple passwords
A Browser is only as secure as the user using it

Our food bank closed, due to overwhelming need
They just couldn't keep up and got very depressed.
The people running it didn't have the resources to find new premises when the prosperity church they were renting off took it back so they could make money from a second-hand business
The country most likely to invade and/or overthrow you, if history is any indication, is the USA
They have spent the last 100 years invading, undermining and subverting democracy around the world, in the name of democracy
China builds relationships which will pay off in trade, America steals it
Who were they asking about business confidence, though?
All I see are more and more closed businesses, closed restaurants, closed car yards, closed shops.
I'll bet it was the bankers...

Lots of disgust, even from the Aussies.
We were stunned - just couldn't believe it ended like that.
Like being given a new house, then watching it explode into matchwood.
