Det finns många argument för varför det inte skulle fungera men jag tror många av de argumenten i sin tur avslöjar hur lite friskolemodellen används så som det var tänkt. Och det är ju en poäng i sig.

Man kan, tror jag, föreställa sig en friskolemodell där ansvaret för lokaler lyfts ut och flera friskolor därmed skulle kunna verka under gemensamma skollokaler. Då skulle ju en "friskola" kunna skala väldigt mycket snabbare för att möta efterfrågan.

Så här. En valfrihetsform är rätt dålig om den underliggande produkten inte enkelt skalar så att den möter efterfrågan. Samtliga väntelistor till friskolor är ett tecken på just det problemet. Och det hade man kunnat lösa betydligt bättre.

Jag undrar om @drbergh.bsky.social skulle hålla med mig om att denna i övrigt utmärkta rapport "missar" en baksida av den svenska friskolemodellen vilket är att designen gör att systemet skalar jättedåligt - vilket borde vara det första man vill att en valfrihetsreform INTE gör.

To offer perspective, I think it's a mistake that fails to read the room. I'm not part of the climate science community but I'm part of the community that helps communicate this stuff & some of the attribution work... reaches. At least it seems like that to me. So doubling down is just provocative.

När det gäller attribueringsstudier i allmänhet och Ottos i synnerhet så har Pielke Jr en poäng. Och jag tycker verkligen inte att hans tillvägagångssätt motiveras att beskrivas som attack.

Är det verkligen i huvudsak innehållet som definierar vad en "korv" är? Innehållet kan ju variera våldsamt medan formen och strukturen är relativt konsekvent.

Det vore klädsamt om du åtminstone en gång kunde reflektera över att kritiken mot den svenska friskolemodellen sannerligen inte bara kommer från vänsterhåll.

Thanks for doing the hard work. That said, it's unfortunate that the framing just fuels the narrative that climate change science has become a team sport. So counterproductive.

As dodgy as it is, the DOE report includes things that could have been embraced to bridge the gap and mend the divide.

The massive DOE report rebuttal from @andrewdessler.com & Co deserves praise. But the way he talks about the DOE report is detrimental to what I assume they hope to achieve with writing it.

Even to someone like me - steeped in this stuff - I find it off-puttingly arrogant & worringly self-assured.

It remains necessary partly because of the unwise tone with which this rebuttal is delivered. You seek the best in all of the work you are rebuting - even if the best is not much. And you give that ground. Here - as usual - the very idea of reaching out it is utterly rejected.

Monthly reminder that populism relies on non-populists to mitigate the worst consequences of the whatever the populist's agenda is. To fight it efficiently, one has to dare to let go and allow the ensuing, ruthless reality to break the spell.

A welcoming side-effect of rarely having felt that you truly belonged in the context you found yourself in, is that you become borderline immune to tribalism. A side-effect of that is that you have to sadly witness -with some clarity - so many others succumb to it.

People in power seem to need to learn that if your opponent is cheating and you have no chance of cheating better than them then the better move is to not cheat.

Eventually that genuine moral high-ground will matter in a way it never will if all you can claim is that you cheated a bit less.
