the Black freedom movement had a more expansive focus than civil rights. It was messy and contested by multiple tendencies. The sanitized retelling doesn't serve anyone.

Dr. King suffered many bouts of severe depression. His autopsy found that he had a heart consistent with a 60 year old. He was murdered at 39. Stress, threats and exhaustion will do that to a person.
