For some reason I'm just not enjoying System Shock 2 as much as I enjoyed SS1. Maybe it's because SS1 is far more of a remaster, and they toned down the learning curve a bit? SS2 is basically the same game I remember - it throws 10 different things at you all at once in a confusing mess.

Reading between the tea-leaves, they played fast-and-loose with the ratings system and spooked the publishers/distributors. Once you've lost their trust, it's game over - it's just not worth the risk for them. You can play games with the audience, but not the distributor.

I always assumed the name came from it's a deer that you can actually put reins on. As opposed to an unreindeer which will stab you if you try that shit. But apparently that's not true - it just means "animal with horns". Booooring!
