I was just describing this problem to my wife yesterday. No one has ever really red-teamed our government or constitution/laws, and what we’re experiencing is a wholesale exploitation campaign against everything that we thought was safe but was never tested.

I felt the same way about the original Fletch, and didn’t think the Jon Hamm reboot was as good as everyone else seems to think it was. Oh well, nostalgia is a hell of a thing.

Get some 30% vinegar at your local home store, put it in a pump sprayer with a squirt of biodegradable dish soap and some salt, and set to spraying. As an added bonus, your yard will smell like a good Italian salad.

I will bet a sizable sum that none of those people will be the nominee for either party in 2028.

Oh wow, you do the thing where you cut off the tool’s long cord and just have a pigtail too! I’ve been doing that for years and it’s so much nicer to not have to wrap up the cord around the tool. I never thought to use those twist-lock plugs tho - great idea to keep the plug from coming apart!

Don't Worry About the Government

Pretty mild complaint with everything else going on, but dammit @netflix.com, if I have all of the "send me emails about..." things turned off, why the hell are you sending me random emails about stuff? You're abusing trust here...

If the company building it is going ahead with the project anyway, I assume that means that someone is getting rich(er) as an outcome of not having the gov’t loan guarantee.

As the comms theory saying goes, “when you’re tired or bored of saying it, that’s when people are just starting to hear it.”

And to add, will always do the thing that benefits a very narrow vested constituency over things that benefit society as a whole. Guaranteed that there are a handful of people/companies that financially gain from this action.

They did that when the 30% tax credit went into effect.

Name the names and prosecute the offenders, regardless of who they may be. We need a clean slate.

I’m holding to my theory that Trump is protecting someone else in addition to himself with this Epstein stuff. I’m sure there’s dirt on him too that he doesn’t want to see the light of day, but I don’t think he’d be this sweaty if it was just him.

My contrarian take is that he’s not worried about himself getting implicated. I kinda think he’s covering for someone else. Someone with leverage over him far greater than just becoming an “officially known” benefactor of Epstein’s trafficking (it’s *already* well known he was good friends with Ep).

I was speculating with my wife earlier this week that it’s possible that Trump’s not the one at risk, someone else who has significant sway over him is. I can only think of a few names that would have that much leverage.

They use their Medicaid checks to buy video games and flamin’ hot Doritos.

We just watched it as well (our Prime sub is expiring and we aren’t renewing), and we absolutely did not see that ending coming. Serious twist!

Once the inevitable outrage dies down, the precedent is set and the escalation will begin, though not too fast. Eventually it will become just another thing. At that point we’ve passed the point of no return, and anyone who becomes a vocal critic truly risks being expelled from the country. /x

I’m not saying this to be a doomer, but rather to show how dangerous and un-American this rhetoric is. With no one providing effective guardrails, he can absolutely turn anyone he wants into a “non-citizen,” even if it’s not “legally“ so. I expect it to happen to someone sooner rather than later. 2/

I’ve seen posts of “they can’t do that,” or “the president doesn’t have the power to revoke citizenship.” Sure. In normal times this is true. Reality on the ground says that he can de facto make it happen. All it takes is an “arrest” and a one-way trip to some other country. Done deal.

Yep. They’ve learned that they can lie big, get away with it, and even benefit. Until we change the incentive calculus on their firehose lying, they’ll keep doing it and even escalate.
