If you've ever worked in anime localization/dubbing then you would know that the client needs to be aware of EVERY decision by the studio. They have final say on everything; even casting choices. Amazon doing this without their knowledge is HUGE. At the very least it would endanger their license.

There is no genuine scholarly or historical debate about the birthright citizenship clause. What there is is disingenuous or outright fabricated bullshit by opportunists willing to aid a racist project for the sake of professional expedience.

So now I fully support her campaign and I hope she crushes it. How can I not? She makes the case and I believe her. This aside, she’s also done some extremely innovative fundraising work.

So I know it is possible. And I know the only way we get out of this is if other candidates act this way.

At the time, I didn’t think too much of this. A lot of candidates haven’t thought of these things until asked. I just assumed another politician unprepared for the job.

I was wrong. As she says in her moving speech, politicians don’t deserve our votes, they earn it.

The gold standard for me is Kat Abugazeleh, who is a Democrat running for Congress.

Some folks on here might not remember this but when she first launched her campaign, I and others tried to get an answer from her on impeachment and she didn’t respond initially.

I’m not looking for weasely answers. I’m looking for “I will never stop pushing this until he is out of office and in bracelets”.

A candidate can’t do that? What good are they?

My view on candidates running this cycle is there is no such thing as harm reduction if the candidate is not willing to support Trump’s removal from office.

At best that is managed decline. More realistically, it’s active complicity in fascism.

There's no way to call a nonbinary person (who is definitionally trans) a "cissexual" without strongly implying that they are cis in the more commonly understood sense, any more than there's a way to call trans women "biologically male" or "male socialised" without strongly implying that we are men.

No but to continue my streak of pleasing absolutely nobody; it is factually fucking wrong to call people demanding OTC HRT or informed consent HRT "transmeds." But also some of the people being called that right now are being nobheads and should give their heads a good wobble.

It remains my position that "transmedicalist" means something quite specific that most of the people it is thrown at are not actually doing *and* that calling other trans people "cissexual" is rude, silly and damaging to solidarity. I'm nonbinary like that.

I do not want my friends to go to jail. I put a high premium on preventing a government that imprisons my friends when they committed no crimes.

I think some socialists take pride in being so radical they don’t see the difference between American Liberal Democracy and a potential GOP autocracy.

I think the latter is much more likely to throw us into detention without trial than the former is. Can’t understand why anyone could disagree.

Socialists should take the law seriously, grapple with it, think of how to overhaul and reforge it.
