I’ve been composing for music box to go with some embroidered sculptures I’ve been making.

I’ve been dipping my toe into blue sky every now and again since invites were a precious resource.

I find this app difficult to use in the same way I used to find Twitter difficult to use

Does anyone have a recommendation for a resource that could help me learn how to use this app?

I’m finding the “none of us expected this would happen so quickly” commentary quite odd.

The overturning of institutions and the rule of law didn’t start on January 20.

It started in the 1980s.

Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Bush and yes Obama too drove us here.

We’re now at its logical conclusion.

I think I have to quit music.
- I can’t keep going through the now twice yearly cycle of loosing a significant chunk of income and being plunged into poverty wages.
- I can’t keep applying to endless open calls that require 6 months of work for 2 weeks pay
- I can’t do music as a hobby

The bottom 90% have got just 7% of economic growth from 2009 to 2019. The top 10% got 93%.

Something I find worrying about art spaces I find myself in is the idea that anything is possible if you want it badly enough.

Everyone should have access to arts education and material. Not wanting it “enough” Combined with lack of access to arts education shouldn’t be a barrier.

I’m so glad you were able to go a diy route! For a lot of people piecing together an arts practice in the way that you did is out of their reach.

It’s not a revolution if we can’t keep trans people safe ♥️

It saddens me greatly that lack of access/resources is mistaken for a lack of creativity :(

also adding to that, monetising your creativity is a nightmare on so many levels, from customer service, to losing the joy of creation... so i guess its a lose lose situation for the creatives ;c

Being underemployed is a nightmare for participating in creative community.

I’m spending so much time and energy trying to get enough work to survive that am unable to participate in those magical unpaid/Basically unpaid creative social situations.

This income situation has left me isolated.

I hope they pause it so long it accidentally turns into forever!

I cannot full express the grief that accompanies being working class and needing a job, but having trained and dedicated my life to the flute at age 10 and realising that there are no real flute jobs. (I’ve been piecing together a poverty wage running a teaching business for over a decade)

It’s not about the app, it’s about how it functioned. I’ve been yelling into the void as an isolated creative for over a decade. When I joined TikTok the void replied.

We feel it outside the us too - it’s like watching a friend in a shitty relationship who does not have the resources to leave, and you don’t have the resources to help them, all you can do is listen

The cycle of abuse: we are currently headed back to the tension building phase. The longer abuse goes on, the less time is spent in "calm". When victims start to anticipate the cycle, the abuse increases in intensity and rapidity. We are there.

All this text and silence makes me feel naked.
