I have a student teacher this year (first time in a 30 year teaching career) and I just sent him this blog entry. I’m excited!

Ah got it. I’d still wait to hear from the math teacher. I teach algebra 2 and my dream is that all students have the same model bc it makes teacher tech support so much easier. (Also, I have never achieved this goal!)

If anything, I’d wait to see what the teacher asks students to have. Many schools supply them to students. Many teachers use only Desmos. I’d wait…

One of the best teacher practices I was taught is to NOT call roll on the first day. Ask students individually to say their names. That way you never say a child’s name wrong.

I’d like to add to the conversation that “extra” information in a problem is a good thing for students to grapple with.

Why why why would we be talking about nuclear developments on the moon when we can’t provide healthcare for free?

Paused at 1:45: how many rotations will it take before the square lands back at its original orientation (vertices in place).
At end: if the side length of the square is 3, what is the total distance traveled of the highlighted vertex?
