Please someone work out how much the Regulatory Standards Act has cost the long suffering taxpayer so far. I think we all deserve to know what the going rate for dadaesque satire is nowadays.

26.11.2025 05:44 โ ๐ 69 ๐ 12 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0Surely shifting regional council responsibilities to other councils and/or central government will be a massive, disruptive, expensive undertaking that will result in huge rates increases.
25.11.2025 02:47 โ ๐ 20 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0So, if Luxon kills regional councils today, who takes over their current responsibilities?
Watch the people who complain about having to pay rates to a regional council, complain about rate rises from their local council.
Do the people with money forget that things cost money?

I've just realized where I've heard of this LG reform model before. It's the Mayoral Forum model without the regional council. In my experience it can become a place where individual over reach becomes the norm....a risky move given how little TA Mayors often know about regional council matters.
25.11.2025 06:23 โ ๐ 14 ๐ 7 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Bet the regional council reforms are related to this tooโฆ less climate change preparedness without the regional councils, more individual responsibilityโฆ.

Cool how this man is in charge of our resources in a climate crisis but most media just kind of ignores him or goes hurr hurr he's funny when it's actually fucking horrifying.
Kudos to @haydendonnell.bsky.social for highlighting how utterly not normal this all is. #nzpol

Telus called us up with some doorbell camera security system deal, and my husband's reply to them was "No. I don't want to live that way." I don't think the rep had heard that yet from anyone. He was flabbergasted.

4 drawings in 4 squares of a person saying 1) LANDLORDS DO NOT PROVIDE HOUSING. 2) THEY BUY AND HOLD MORE SPACE THAN THEY NEED FOR THEMSELVES. 3) THEN, THEY CREATE A FALSE SCARCITY AND PROFIT OFF OF IT. 4) WHAT THEY'RE DOING IS LITERALLY THE OPPOSITE OF PROVIDING HOUSING.
Landlords do not provide housing theyโre in a shoddy business that offers very little protection to those who need to rent.

25.11.2025 19:25 โ ๐ 28 ๐ 16 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0On October 3, 2025, Secretary Noem spoke to agents at the Broadview facility before they began their shift. She said: When we leave here, weโre going to go hard. Weโre going to hammer these guys who are advocating for violence against the American people. What they are doing is advocating to harm not just you and your colleagues but your families and theyโre doxing your identities and victimizing people every day by the way that theyโre talking, speaking, who theyโre affiliated with, who theyโre funded with, and what theyโre talking about as far as consequences for what weโre doing by protecting this country. So weโre going to go out there and weโre going to make sure that thereโs consequences for the way that theyโre behaving, and then weโre going to prosecute them. Weโre going to bring them to justice. Weโre not taking this anymore. . . . Weโre going to give you guys all the authority that you need to arrest these individuals who are advocating for violence against you. Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson), X (Oct. 3, 2025 1:05 p.m.), https://x.com/bennyjohnson/ status/1974174065985470970. Bovino followed up by telling the agents: Youโre going to be put in full effect . . . That crowd there is, is an unsafe crowd on either side. . . . And when they resist, what happens? They get arrested. So itโs now going to be a free arrest zone. And, Iโll give them one warning that thatโll be for safety of, of us and the Secretary to leave. So theyโre getting it here as soon as we leave. Id. Secretary Noem finished by stating, โ[m]ake sure that these individuals are not allowed to conduct this kind of activity anymore.โ Id.
Benny Johnson shows up 8 times in Sara Ellis' opinion, partly by capturing Noem and Bovino saying illegal shit.
