and remember, Columbus was recalled by the gov't of Spain and imprisoned for brutal cruelty against the natives in the New World. The Spain of the Inquisition. That Spain, in case you were wondering.

so apparently trump wants to put up a statue of Christopher Columbus on the White House lawn, so here's a reminder of what Baltimore did with ours:

In the de Falla, Don Quixote goes to the puppet show, loses sight of reality (surprise): "Oh no, the Moors have kidnapped the princess!!" and smashes everything to smithereens with his sword (the end). A true masterpiece, and a wild harpsichord part -- originally written for Wanda Landowska

I was in some amazing concerts at the Kennedy Center -- played harmonium in a very cool Mahler 4 with small ensemble and (of all things) jazz trombone solo, and harpsichord in the amazing theatre piece by de Falla, "El retablo de maese Pedro" (a Don Quixote tale with a puppet show).

they got in a fight during (!) a performance of a Mattheson opera (Handel wouldn't leave the harpsichord, Mattheson supposedly said "IT'S MY OPERA!!!"), then they later pulled their swords and had it out, and Mattheson's (alleged killing) blow was deflected by large ornate button on Handel's coat

lol and this was after Mattheson almost killed Handel, but Handel got saved by a giant ornate button on his coat, poor Guido had no such luck

A famous movie still from "The Sound of Music", but with revised and improved text of the "Doe, a deer" song:

Do, a note to follow Ti,
Re, a note to follow Do,
Mi, a note to follow Re,
Fa, a note to follow Mi,
Sol, a note to follow Fa,
La, a note to follow Sol,
Ti, a note to follow La,
That will bring us back to Do! (repeat ad nauseam)

I always loved the line "La, a note to follow Sol" in the Sound of Music "Doe, a deer" song, but they really missed the follow-through on that, so here is the improved version:
