Prohibition was over by 1934 but I don't think pesky laws stopped a German-born conductor from his distilling hobby. There was a idea floated to serve this at a fundraising event but the Baltimore Health Dept didn't think it was a good idea lol

Wow, studied with Gustav Strube, Baltimore Symph conductor and faculty at Peabody, better known (to me anyway) as the guy who distilled a whole bunch of illicit alcohol, which got sealed up in a cupboard and then rediscovered in 2002. I have a picture somewhere, the bottles are in the archives here
